Meet Megan Foster | Landscape Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Foster and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always loved the idea of working for myself. I think I am disciplined, motivated and hardworking. These qualities are necessary in starting your own business and knowing that they were some of my strengths, it helped me to rationalize the risk. I had worked with a couple of other landscape companies prior to starting my own and I learned what to do and what not to do. I knew getting the right team would be paramount as well. Over time, the challenges have ebbed and flowed but ultimately the tests are still worth facing head on.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Root Wise LLC is a landscape design and installation business in Boynton Beach FL. I started this business back in 2018 and even though it’s had it’s challenges, it has been my greatest adventure. Originally from New Jersey, I have always loved the landscape and horticulture field. It has not been easy. There are huge moments of self-doubt. I feel like everyone experiences those moments. I always try and remember how much I love what I do. Despite the challenges and uncertainty of running your own business, I truly believe if you do what you love with integrity, the universe will back you up. I have had other challenges in my life. Putting one foot in front of the other and doing the next right thing has never steered me wrong.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have lived in Florida for about 12 years now. There are so many great things to do here. I keep a running list of good restaurants and activities for us and guests that come visit. Some of the best gardens to visit nearby include Fairchild Miami, Mounts Botanical Garden in West Palm Beach and McArthur Beach state park. These are great places to just walk around, look at nature and even kayaking at McArthur. Some of my favorite restaurants include Oceano Kitchen in Lantana, Alley Cat and Twenty Twenty grill in Boca Raton and Green Owl in Delray for those lazy Sunday morning breakfasts. Atlantic Ave in Delray Beach is always fun to walk around. Elisabetta’s, Dadas, Third on Third, City Oyster and playing pinball at the Silver Ball museum are some of our favorite spots there. Going to see a show or play at the Hardrock Casino is always a great time too.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a shoutout to my biggest supporters and cheerleaders, my wife and parents. From the very beginning, starting my own business, they have never waivered their belief in me. In my moments of doubt, stress and exhaustion, they have been there to cheer me on and support me in every way they could.
