We had the good fortune of connecting with Meivys + David Suarez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Meivys + David, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When my husband and I first decided to start a business back in 2013, our goal was to merge my passion of photography with his entrepreneurial nature to create a business that would satisfy the flexible lifestyle we wanted for ourselves and our future children. While it took years to get things right and for us to get the hang of things (although we are constantly learning!) that dream lifestyle we always imagined is what helped propel us forward and always look at the bright side in every point of our journey.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We’re a husband and wife team and we absolutely love what we do – photography! Our story began way back in 2011 when we first met and danced our first Salsa song. Two years later we started our very own photography business blending passion and creativity with natural-born entrepreneurship. We believe in lasting friendships and great experiences, shared memories, and laughter as the cure to anything in the world. We believe in grand gestures, eskimo kisses, dancing in the kitchen, shopping, cafecito breaks, enjoying life, and fun – lots of fun! We also believe that photography is our way of being part of our client’s family and helping them tell their story of life | love + business. When we got married in 2018, photography was on the top of our priorities list because we knew that these images would be the foundation of our legacy as husband and wife. While it was challenging to run a business together and get married, we learned so much about ourselves and what the wedding experience should be like for a couple. After going through everything that couples have to endure and interviewing some of our past couples, we felt pain points we never saw before and we built solutions to those paint point into our process so that working with us would be easy-going and more of a pampered feeling that a stressor. We realized that a photographer’s job should be to be so in tune with the couple’s preferences and story that they would trust every decision made with regard to photographs, prints, albums, and more. With ourselves and our favorite couples in mind, we’ve crafted a personal and joyful experience that goes beyond hiring someone to hold a camera and take a few photos. Instead, we are there for our couples every step of the way – guiding them, cheering them on, laughing with them and making sure they feel their very best! We saw our business flourish when we began using clear, purposeful system and branding to our advantage and started to attract the clients we dreamed of having when we first began our business in 2018. Because of purposeful and strategic branding, we’ve been able to gain clients who trust us and make the sales process a breeze. We’ve become more and more passionate about branding and the positive effects it has on businesses and we absolutely love to share our journey so that others can benefit from this as well. As we say to all of our client, We’re here to deliver the images you’ve always dreamed of and provide the experience you deserve.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our successes are all rooted in making our parents proud. We’ve always had their love and support and we have always been able to count on them being our biggest cheerleaders. As we’ve grown in our business, we get to share all of our successes and they get to see how much this business means to us. There were two instances in particular that we will never forget. For me (Meivys) it was the day our work was first published in print, running over to my parents and showing them was one of my first instincts – when I opened the magazine and showed the spreads to my dad – wow! My mom is always the biggest and #1 Fan of ours and of our work, my dad just gives the head nod and pat on the back, but this time I was stunned by his reaction, he teared up a little when he saw us in print and looked at me in my eyes and said “You guys will go very far” While my parents always support me and us, it was a different and motivating feeling to hear those words, moments like that give me tons of excitement and allow me to reach towards bigger and better goals, always keeping them being proud, top of mind. For David, it must of been the time where he was able to talk to his dad about the art behind photography. He always appreciated photography and had been a hobby artist for so long. They got to talking technique and how David composes a photo or selects the settings to achieve our signature style – that conversation where they were able to bond over photography and how David has been able to make a living out of his art was mind-blowing and felt sooo good! David’s parents have always been more traditional than my parents (who are both entrepreneurs) but when they realized that we could make a living of off what we love to do and when David went full time with the business, they were so happy and so proud, they accepted that we were doing our thing and doing it very well! Both our parents have our wedding albums on display in their homes and rave about us and our work. They are such a huge part of why we do what we do and we are always doing our best to exceed their expectations because their support and recognition are the biggest reward!
