We had the good fortune of connecting with Melanie Maria and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Melanie, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I purse an artistic career into makeup and fashion because nothing is never not ugly. Makeup is something anyone can be creative with and design their true feelings which can be someone going all out with the most colorful eyeshadows or doing some simple with a shade of neutrals for the day. Creating different looks with makeup is someone’s art like a bold lip color, wet eye makeup look, painting your face to look like someone else’s character, it’s all art
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a makeup artist, fashion blogger, and content creator on social media. My blog is creating different makeup looks for all occasions. It can be a simple Smokey eye, or the most rainbow effect makeup look there is! What sets my blog apart from others is that my blog is authentic. Everything I do is original, and the truth. If it’s something I like or hate you will know. Also I am very engaged with my audience. I love when my followers ask me questions about makeup or mommy lifestyle questions. Helping others is what I created makeupbycurls for. I wanted to help others be fabulous, look great, even while being a mom. In my time creating content for makeupbycurls it definitely has not been easy. I have been trying so hard to grow my audience because a lot of brands at the end of the day do look for your follower count even if you have 345,000 impressions on your profile. In the past few months it has been very hard to grow my followers which I’m hoping changes soon. I’m very focused to keep being positive and to get to my goal so that companies see I don’t give up. I just want everyone to know about my brand makeupbycurls and to support it because at the end of the day we are all here to raise each other up, help one to become successful so that they can than help you.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friends were visiting in Miami I would definitely first take them to the most incredible rooftop bars so they can see the city from a birds eye view. I love the rooftop bars that we have to offer. Being able to see the city, sip a cocktail, and have many laughs with my besties is what every girl loves. Next area I would visit is the wynwood walls. All of the art and creativity can inspire one. After a long day of drinking and art the perfect dinner spot to go to that is so creative, crazy, and unforgettable is Barton G’s where every meal is in a different presentation that is artistic! So fun!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give credit to my son. Without him I may have not pushed myself. Being a single mom isn’t easy. My plan to be my own boss and run my own career is because of him. He pushes me to never stop, to keep my head in the game until my goal is achieved. Even though he’s only 2 he’s changed my life more than he knows.
