We had the good fortune of connecting with Melina Brokmeier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Melina, how do you think about risk?
Be comfortable with the uncomfortable – When looking at risks now that’s my mindset. I believe that with risks, results can be much greater, and life is more fulfilled. But of course, this has not always been the case.
Growing up , I was obsessed with perfection. Always having the best grades in school or being the best on the sports team or really at anything else. Of course, that mindset was not helpful when making decisions that would involve a potential risky outcome. Because let’s face it, every risky decision would ultimately increase the possibility of failure. However, what I did not know back then was how impactful risky decisions are on the person you become.
My first risky decision was made when I decided for myself at the age of 15 that I wanted to go to boarding school in the United States – thousands of miles away from my home, my family and my friends who were all in Germany.
It was not an easy decision and took me weeks of evaluating the pros and cons. But honestly, for me this experience and specific decision shaped me and contributed so much to the person I am today….. personally and professionally.
From that moment on, I trusted myself! I made peace with the fact that failure is okay and that you become so much stronger when stepping out of your comfort zone but also by believing in yourself and your capabilities.
On a professional level, taking risks has played a huge role but is also the reason why I am in the position I am in today.
What should our readers know about your business?
We are a full-service amazon FBA agency that helps customers set up their own automated businesses. Together with our German sister company, we have been helping people who have little to no experience with FBA build their own profitable Amazon business since 2018. In total, both companies consist of over 100 employees who are absolute experts in their specific fields and serve customers from the US, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Most of our clients see FBA as an exciting investment opportunity; they either want to build a second source of income or want to fully shift over and become an Amazon FBA seller full time. For each of them, Amazon FBA writes its own success story – and that’s what makes the collaboration so exciting for us.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I really love strolling around and just randomly finding new places ….. Miami offers a great diversity in options.
Here are a few things I would definitely not want her to miss:
– Grabbing some donuts at the salty donut in Wynwood and spend some time exploring the area & shops
– A day on the boat
– Heat Game should always be part of a true Miami experience
– The burlesque show at the Faena Hotel
– Driving up to West Palm Beach & Boca Raton
– Of course a beach day! I would probably take her to the Edition Hotel or Soho House
– Saturday / Sunday brunch in coconut grove and walk around the shops after
Food & Drinks is really hard because I love exploring new restaurants rather than repeating old ones but my go to places are surely Doya, Hillstones, Makoto, Joes Stonecrab, Mila & Doma.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Incredible question and so hard to answer…. I left home at a very young age and have lived in many different countries and cities, meeting many incredible and not so incredible people that contributed to my life in so many ways … But thinking about who truly shaped me into the person I am today it is definitely my family and friends that have been with me for many years.
The biggest shoutout goes to my family who I am grateful to be very very close with. They taught me to never give up and always strive to become better and offering me all the possibilities to achieve the goals that I set for myself. Their support, love, trust and believe in me has been so important and continues to be my biggest drive.
Professionally, my biggest mentor is definitely my father, I am confident that without his guidance , knowledge and “push” I would not be the person I am today. He taught me so many life lessons that I often times I did not understand in the moment but now they make so much sense. He is not only my biggest supporter but also my go to person when I have an issue at work and have no idea what to do….He taught me how to be tough but at the same time understand the people that work with you, that different opinions are important and make you and your business better, that it is ok to fail – but that you should take it and learn from it.. You get back up revisit what happened, evaluate the reasons why it happened, learn from your mistakes and do it again – BETTER.
Additionally, there are of course also my closest friends, the family you get to choose in your life. I believe that the people you surround yourself with are so impactful on your life and I am thankful and feel blessed to have a great circle of friends who are driven, successful and like-minded individuals that i learn so much from on a daily basis.
