We had the good fortune of connecting with Melisa Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melisa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

Melisa’s idea for “Lux Lifestyle Events” started while running her empire company The New York Fame which produces fashion week events in NY during NY Fashion Week for top designers around the world, such as Bravo TV’s The Fashion Show, Season 1 finalist Reco Chapple, Korto Momolu winner of the 5th season of Bravo’s hit show Project Runway, and Stevie Boi who’s designs have been worn by the likes of Lady GaGa, Teyanna Taylor, Lisa Raye, Meagan Good,Michelle Rodriguez, Rosa Acosta, Dawn Richards, & Eva Marcille to name a few. She is a stellar event & production manager that goes beyond her corporate script. She never thought one day she would be creating dream wedding until she was asked by a close friend to plan her wedding. After that wedding Melisa was bit by the wedding bug she then went on to planning her sisters wedding and from then it was inevitable. She knew it was her passion and dream to bring couples dream wedding to reality. This was the birth of Lux Lifestyle Events.

What should our readers know about your business?
I remember starting this business selling some of my stocks with Apple Inc. Who I worked for 5 years and wondering was this truly what I wanted to do, was it going to work out as I envisioned it to be. But I took that leap of faith and it was the best decision I’ve ever made.

My vision of style separates me from the norm. I’ll make it my challenge to offer a higher level of personalization by attending to my client’s wishes, ideas and passions! Which embodies the ultimate results from the combination of your wishes, the beauty and elegance of your venue and my touch!

This was the inspiration that birthed “Lux Lifestyle Events”. My innovativeness put me at the forefront of a powerhouse brand. Lux Lifestyle Events is the foundation to the next frontier of the Wedding & Special Events industry.

I gladly assist my clients with all aspects of the planning process from start to finish. I’m extremely detail oriented, stylish, organized, and most of all creative. I focus on my client’s dreams in order to ensure the entire experience is as unique as they are.

We work very closely with our clients in order to create a event that will be suitable for our client’s personality and lifestyle. My ideas and expertise create the perfect atmosphere for their occasion. Lux Lifestyle Events works with several well known vendors to ensure the best quality and perfection during their event.

Despite the challenging times that 2020 has served, people have not let their current circumstances stop their love. They have set out to prove that LOVE WINS always! We have delivered some of the most elegant social distanced weddings & Events that anyone has ever seen. We continues to go beyond the norm by creating that Lux Experience.

It hasn’t been easy and it took sometime for us to get where we are today. But Faith above all things and the passion to win has been the backbone of Lux Lifestyle Event. We accept all challenges for its those successful and unsuccessful opportunities that teaches us how to grow in this industry. You have to fail to win. Surrounding yourself with positive energy and attitude is what motivates me to go on. And with that we will continue to succeed in this industry

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spot would be in south beach Miami. One of my favorite restaurant is STK MIAMI.. love the location, the ambiance, food and drinks. I love music so I’m always looking for a lounge with great music and vibe that would be Novikov Miami.. love me a great rooftop experience as well. As a New Yorker we live for the rooftop vibe and experience and that would be MILA Restaurant, Rooftop Lounge & Mixology Bar absolutely love the view and vibe.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to Chef James Lubin of Semaj Catering. From the moment I met Chef Lubin I knew he was the perfect fit for our brand and clients. His work ethic, presentation, and passion for his craft is beyond exceptional. Chef Lubin and I did our first wedding together for our client Wenieka Smith former Miss Turks & Caicos. From that wedding every thing he represented was a highlight at that wedding. We works so great together and our business relationship blossom to a lifelong friendship. He is not only considered a preferred vendor to us he is also a Brother and My best friend.

Chef Lubin is a mentor to many, an example to caterers in the hospitality industry. But what he means to me is a genuine supporter and he encourage me everyday to push for more than just the norm but go beyond it.. We have support each other as true black business entrepreneur should. He goes above and beyond for his clients. His food is an experience to all.
