We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Drucker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melissa, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

I knew I wanted to own my own business one day, but I didn’t know what that business would be. So since I had already started the intention, all I had to do was find my passion. My first idea lasted for a couple of years, but it only lasted as an idea. This was the idea of having my own event planning business, but I never executed the idea so ultimately it failed.

A couple years go by and I start to evolve as an individual. It’s actually a bit interesting how I came up with the idea for my business, and you might laugh, but it’s a very usual occurrence for me (getting inspired by something) from, well, television. I was watching a series called “The Bold Type” , a series about three twenty-something New York women who work in a fashion magazine together. I kept thinking; they have an amazing life – I want that. I loved the glam, the creativity, and, most importantly, the female confidence and empowerment that they all exhibited.

One of the characters was the social media manager at the magazine and it really piqued my interest. After three years of watching the show, and because of the timing in my life, I decided to look into it. It was in January of 2021 when I sat down and was on a mission to develop a brand that could help me become a travel influencer and social media manager. I came up with my Professional Florida Girl brand and then, about 6 months later, re-branded the company’s name to Professional Socials: a social media management company, focusing on small businesses.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

My business is a social media management company that focuses on promoting and managing socials like Instagram and TikTok for small businesses in my community. What sets me apart from others is that I have a desire for everyone to succeed and help their own dreams come true because of the art that is my social media campaigns. I am excited that I get to work with self-starters and small business owners while we both pursue our passions.

I am also an aspiring travel influencer. I want to travel the world one day, but where better to start than right here in my home state: Florida! This is for my Professional Florida Girl brand, which can be found on both TikTok and Instagram.

I got to where I am today because of consistency. It was surely not easy, I had many challenges along the way and at one point, I wanted to give up altogether. Instead of letting go of the business completely, I decided to evolve it into something more (coaching and photography), something much more attainable for my lifestyle.

I’ve learned many lessons along the way, for example, one of the hardest lessons I had to learn is that the show must go on. Even when something in your personal life goes wrong or flips your world upside-down, you still have to work at your business. The show must go on if you want to be successful with all clients at all times.

Another lesson I’ve learned is that YOU CAN’T DO IT ALL. I have a full-time job, while managing the upkeep of my apartment, social life, physical fitness, nutrition, and also relaxation time, and sleep. I still run a business on top of this, and because of this, I have had to develop amazing time management skills, habit changes, and live life with balance.

I want the world to know that I do this so that I can be a creative influence in my clients’ journeys and successes.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Being a travel influencer for the state of Florida, many cool spots in Miami are a MUST-SEE. Whether It’s a week-long trip to the city or just your average week, here are some places that make Miami, Miami.

Nighttime is perfect for South Beach. First put on some heels or your jeans – because clubbing is where it’s at at night! First, grab dinner at Mango’s Tropical Café, and after dinner, dance those calories off with some Latin music! Next, if you’re feeling a bit raunchy, head to Twist nightclub, where you will find many different areas with different bars and music.

A hotel I highly recommend is the Fontainebleau. This is the most beautiful hotel I have ever been to. It has the most beautiful architecture and infrastructure. There are clubs, pools, bars, event space, a beach, and my favorite part: Lapis Spa.

During the day, you can visit places like Wynwood, Bayfront Park, Miami Beach Botanical Gardens, the Venetian Pool, and a personal favorite: Giralda Plaza.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I’d first like to thank my social media mentor, Diana Mahmoud, for being the first one to get me started on what it takes to run a social media business. She set me on the path that has changed my life forever.

I would also like to thank my close friends and family who have supported me and cheered me every step of the way! They have given me advice in times of struggle and celebrated with me in all of my successes; I would not be where I am today without them.
