We had the good fortune of connecting with Mia Belle Perez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mia Belle, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
When I was in Pre-K, I participated in my first school recital and my mom saw how much fun I had on stage. After that she enrolled me in a studio and I continued to train more and more. I started with Acro and Ballet and continued adding classes. Music has always been a big part of my life and every time I hear a song, I feel inspired to dance.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am most proud of my growth over the last year. My dancing has improved drastically and this is the first year I receive several judges awards for my solos and consistently receive the highest adjudication.
It hasn’t always been easy, there’s been lots of long days and training through the night. I’ve learned solos in less than 2 days and some the same week of competition. But when you love what you do and are surrounded by an incredible support system, anything is achievable.
Along this journey, I’ve learned the importance of hard work and consistency. It takes a village and I have found an incredible team of individuals that continue to help me grow and for that I am forever thankful.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Miami is the best for spending quality time with friends! I would definitely take my friends down to the beach. I love a good beach picnic and playing volleyball in the sand.
I also really love the Hardrock Guitar Hotel, it’s so much fun!
Recently I took my cousin from NY to Pollo Tropical, and on her next trip definitely want to take her to El Torro Loco for some steak!
I love going to Dave and Busters for games and then Johnny Rockets for milkshakes and burgers.
If we have time, a road trip to Orlando to go to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure is always fun.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom because she works really hard to pay for all of my dance related activities to continue to help me grow.
My dad for always bringing me flowers after my performances.
My grandparents always support me by showing up to all my events and my nana for always doing my hair and makeup.
My dance coach Saydi Sigler for pushing me out of my comfort zone and giving me challenging solos to continue to help me grow. She’s helped me mature as a dancer and I’ve never felt so comfortable with a dance teacher. I am forever thankful for having her in my life.
