We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Flowers Aka Mikeflo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
For me, music IS the answer to so many of life’s problems. Music is energy and energy vibrates. As a shaman of sound, it is my duty to usher souls into and through these various vibrations. I curate emotion, guide, and introduce sonic landscapes to my community. Music is healing and I’m happy to play my part in the healing of my community. I’m also a recording artist, in addition to a curator of sound, so my fingers are on the pulse of various vibrations on many levels. I create and play many different kinds of music. I take my calling/duty very seriously and I’m blessed to be in the position I’m in as a musician.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a sound shaman, and musicologist, I specialize in all that is NOT pop 40 industry driven. As a recording artist and producer, I make music that inspires free thought and true liberation for my listeners. Overall, as a musician, I want to provide a service that fills a void of what I feel is missing in music. I can’t complain about it if I’m not contributing to counter it. I think what sets me apart is the courage I have to be my authentic in my art. I haven’t been bought or sold by any industry. I’m free and self determined. That’s the easy part and has always been.
As a painter, I just strive to embrace my ignorance (because I have nothing to unlearn) and create things I think are visually beautiful. I’ve only been painting for a few years and it’s unlocked so much more of my creativity.
I’m a 23 yr cancer survivor, and I realize that life is very precious to me. I want to make wonderful moments and turn them into the momentum to take me where the universe guides me.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d tell my best friend(s) to ::
1. Meet me on the beach (north) for the energetic reset that only the ocean provides.
2. Ride one of my bikes with me along the ocean to south beach and back for the views, fresh air and exercise.
3. Let’s go to Dante’s HiFi in Wynwood. Dante’s is one of the best all vinyl listening bars in the entire world and it’s right here in Miami.
4. Next we are hitting Cowy Burger (voted best burger in Miami). They also are open til late.
5. Get some rest for the evening and return to the beach again at 7:30a the next morning to start the day off right and go win again for that day.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So many people frequently assist and help support me along my journey. Anyone that has purchased or streamed my music, danced at one of my parties, bought my merchandise, tuned into my live streams, or booked one of my experiences deserves a huge thank you from me. Many of these people I’ve never even met, which assures me of the importance of the music in their lives. I also want to acknowledge my very small circle of close friends and family for supporting my passions.
