We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Rogers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued becoming an author because I wanted to tell my own stories. So many times when we watch or read media, we wonder “why”. Why did they take the story this way? Why didn’t they take this character in this direction? Why does the story have to be done this way? Why do characters have to be a certain way? Why? Why? Why? So, I wanted to write my own stories, my way.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Inevitable, my book, has many influences that helped create it. Anime, gaming, movies, comics, tv shows, complex characters and storylines, to name the most. I started when I graduated from college, running through multiple drafts and getting it edited. After that, I submitted query letters where I was rejected more than 10 times until I was picked. It definitely wasn’t easy. I’ve learned about pricing on editing, marketing, and publishing, ways to maximize the reach of a book, contracts, and more. I want the world to let their imagination expand beyond the boundaries of what they already have when reading my stories.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For shopping, I’d take them to the malls. Dadeland, Dolphin, Sunset, and Aventura mall. To have some fun, I’d take them paintballing, bowling, and to some sporting events. For food, there’s Yoyo’s Burger, HolyShakes, JealousFork, Salty Doughnut, Milky Way Cereal Bar, and Lobster Trap Miami.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family and friends that have been such a great support system for me. Also, my publisher, Sophie Publishing House for taking a chance on me. Thank you all.
