We had the good fortune of connecting with Michela Nale and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michela, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
I always knew what I wanted since I was at school and after many years of building my career I’ve learnt that what it’s more important for me is to enjoy every moment of my life doing what I like most. So I decided to become a full time photographer and work with people that appreciates me and my work. That’s my end goal, be passionate about my work and being appreciated for what I do, an happy client is always what makes me feel fulfilled.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It’s not easy to work in the creative industry, people think that we only do for passion and so they don’t want to pay your real value because “you are just an artist”. What I’ve learnt in all these years of trying to be a professional is that if you don’t value yourself the right way, how can the others? So I started to value my ideas and creativity and everything came quite easily, I was surprised! it’s just about how much you actually believe in yourself and since then I was more confident.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in a very small town North East of Italy (near Venice) and we are surrounded by nature, so I would take my friend around beautiful spots by the mountain views. I like quiet life now so I might take my friend to a nice hidden restaurant by the seaside or mountains, have a lovely glass of wine enjoying the panorama and maybe wait for the sunrise on top of the mountain.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A big thanks goes to my family who always supported me during my young age, when I wanted to travel and live in many cities to build my own portfolio, I think that opening your mind and see different point of views is very important to get out from your bubble and find your own creativity especially in my job. I am also very thankful to a photographer I used to assist after school that gave me the opportunity to learn the job properly on set, one of the things you can’t learn elsewhere and she took me under her wing willing to teach me some of “the job secrets”.
