We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Gomez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelle, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
I think being authentic and honest is the most important to me. I feel that as people we tend to try to compare ourselves or even copy others and we’ve got to see that our own authentic self is best. People can see through the fake stuff. From my experience, being honest and authentic with people has attracted more people who are the same as me and the conversations are real. I want people to know that we all go through similar things through different ways and I’m going through life just like you! I also feel like being authentic allows you to discover more of yourself and allowing more growth from inside.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have multiple talents since I do photography, blogging, content creating and modeling.

For photography I specialize in social media content for bloggers/influencers who need content for their social media platforms. I started doing photography for fun in 2020 for my Youtube channel and then went over to IG and started taking more pictures of myself and my daughter. Then recently 2 months ago I decided to do this professionally since I love photography and content creation. I figured why not help other people especially women of color in the influencer world with some great photos! I did not have a plan initially, but I was intentional about having this business and I’m really learning everything along the way. Just like for modeling it was truly by accident since my friend needed me to model her items from her store and so I did. I enjoy it as well and it’s become a thing for me now!

As a content creator and blogger, I started my blog mrsmichellegomez.com in January 2021 since I felt a need to start one back in October 2020. Although I shared my life on IG, I felt like I needed another way of explaining more of what I love to share on a platform where I can write everything out. Then I decided to just do it. I did it without overthinking and I’m glad to be where I’m now reaching other women who love fashion, beauty and motherhood. I love to share fashion tips, beauty and my journey with my daughter.

My talents definitely came from me just doing it as a hobby and then all of a sudden wanting to take it seriously as a career. I remember moving here in south Florida and could not find a job that would pay me the way I wanted for 3 years. Then I realized maybe I’m suppose to be an entrepreneur and I’ve ALWAYS said that and bam! now I’m living my dream! It makes me realize that I’m capable of doing anything. As long as I was consistent, the work is now paying off and more opportunities are opening up for me. It’s definitely not an easy ride since I’m up all night and have to take care of my almost 2.5 year old daughter. Balancing mom life and business life is definitely hard but I always try to remember that one day she’ll look at me and wonder if I lived the ideal life that I created. That keeps me going. That keeps me pushing to want to be great. I want my daughter to know that she can do anything and mommy is working hard to create a life that I always wanted.

I overcome challenges by prayer. Whenever I’m in doubt, I feel like praying has always helped me calm down and I try to be open to all circumstances that god is trying to show me. I believe in things happening for a reason so now I understand when a “no” occurs, it could be for a good reason.

I want people to know that my brand is about helping other women become empowered and know that they are capable. With this journey of a crazy life, you can be fabulous and still design the life you want. It’s not going to be easy but stay focused on you, your goals and have faith.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friends to Miami probably to check out calle ocho for cuban food and drinks, oh and some music there! then we would head out to the design district for Instagram worthy selfies/photos. South beach is fun and I would check out the Good Time Hotel for their pool and poolside drinks. The beach is also perfect to hang out for the day and get a cabana. I love the One Hotel for their rooftop views and the Fountainbleau to check out their pool. Jetskiing is definitely a must and chartering a boat with the girls while having brunch is great for a Sunday. The Mondrian Hotel is perfect for sunset views or to go in the day time as a beach club!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a shout out to Nandy Gelin for recommending me here and the Boss babes of Miami team! They’ve been so helpful and the group has been amazing with connections and support. I am deeply grateful. I wouldn’t have made the connections I have received without their help and allowing my business to grow.
