Meet Michelle Miltenberger | Co-Owner, The Space Empire

We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Miltenberger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelle, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thoughts behind starting my own business was that I personally was experiencing a need – I needed a space I could go to heal, to feel seen, to feel like I was working towards being my best self, and to meet people going through similar experiences as me. I could not find a space like this that offered everything I desired, so I decided I needed to create it myself, trusting that I was not the only one needing this.

I never wanted to be a business owner, nor did I ever consider it a possibility in my life. There is so much risk, so much responsibility and pressure, but as I continue to learn and grow, I see how rewarding something like this can be. People with the same needs and desires as me now have a place to go that feels safe, that they can use these amazing natural modalities to heal and be healthier, and lives are being changed. It’s so amazing, it’s hard to put into words.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Space Fort Lauderdale and The Space Delray are two amazing wellness centers, located in South Florida. We are a unique wellness community dedicated to holistic health and social connectivity. Our commitment lies in cultivating an environment where members can engage in rejuvenating practices like cold water therapy, sauna sessions, and breathwork, while also connecting with like-minded individuals. Our environment is open and exciting, and our community is engaging and so special.

We got to where we are today by sticking to our vision and our mission statement. Community is our priority and bringing people together in wellness is a gift. This last year we introduced Free Breathwork Thursdays at both of our locations. Every Thursday, all of our breathwork classes are free. Anyone can come and enjoy a breathwork class guided by our expert facilitators, there is no barrier to entry. Breathwork has been one of the most transformational tools for me personally on my journey to where I am today, so to be able to provide access to the community is just amazing.

We continue to face challenges, just like every business and every individual – it never ends. But remembering our purpose and the incredible impact we’ve had on our customers gets me through the hard times. My desire is to always provide an exceptional experience, and for people to see The Space as a safe haven for them, and that is what we provide.

I want the world to know that The Space brand is about fun, connection, and transformation. When we care for ourselves, we make the world a better place.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Fort Lauderdale, FL has some amazing places to see and visit! My favorite place to eat is Gratefuel Cafe on Commercial Blvd. Their food is healthy, fresh, and the ownership is amazing. My favorite gym is Symmetry Fitness – they do group personal training classes that are motivating and also effective – I am stronger than I have ever been after training there consistently for the last year.

I would absolutely take visiting friends or family to The Space for the best wellness experience – guided breathwork to relax the mind, cold plunge & sauna to invigorate the body and reduce inflammation.

In the evening I would park near Las Olas downtown and walk the riverwalk, stop into Salt7 and grab a drink while sitting outside by the water.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to Shout Out my employees. I have the most amazing staff that I could ever have imagined. They work hard and they care about my business as much as I do. They are kind, talented, passionate individuals that bring their magic to my business and make it even better each day. My customers adore them, and I know I can count on them. Being able to trust my staff to do the best job makes me as a business owner so secure and confident, and takes a tremendous amount of stress off of me. They are also incredible humans that anyone would just want to hang out with! So a big ShoutOut and thank you Brian Rose, Hayden Kasprowicz, Eon Vincent, Kylie Medellin, and Aspen Vincent. You all are rockstars and I wouldn’t be able to do any of this without you!
