We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to be apart of the solution and not just complain about the lack of community support within the Black and impoverished communities.
What should our readers know about your business?
Blessed Beauties Inc is a Beauty Nonprofit with a Mission. Our mission is to provide underprivileged communities with resources , opportunities and knowledge on self improvement and total wellness. We spread our message in the community teaching hair care , personal development and mental health. While also supplying free self care bags and beauty services. We’re most proud of our work to date and the relationships we’ve built. We’ve arrived to this point by constantly working to be better and never giving up when meet with obstacles. This journey has not been easy but the rewards of helping those in need is more than worth the risk. The biggest challenge is not having proper training and policy guidance. We’ve overcome these challenges but reaching out to other leaders and individuals for help to correctly navigate in the unknown. The biggest lesson we’ve learnt is to not be afraid to ask for help and advice. The most a person can say is no and most leaders want to help smaller companies but you have to ask. I’m not the most outspoken or outgoing person but my heart is pure and the Love we have and give is genuine.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would definitely spend the day in Downtown Detroit. Starting the day sightseeing in Campus Martius Park. Depending on the season we can go ice skating or roller skating and just enjoy the many events and activities. We would then get brunch at Le Petit Dejeuner and afterwards continue to explore all the new amenities the Downtown area has to offer.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would Love to recognize Shalandria Allen of Hot Commodity Eyewear. I’m so beyond thankful to have her support. It’s not easy operating a business and trying to navigate difficult industries. Having her makes the journey less difficult. She is truly God sent .
