We had the good fortune of connecting with Miguel Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Miguel, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I see risk as a necessary part of growth. It’s uncomfortable, but it’s also where the biggest breakthroughs happen — personally and professionally. Every major decision I’ve made has involved some level of uncertainty, but I’ve learned that if your vision is strong enough, the risk becomes fuel instead of fear.

Starting my own business, FitNationMG.com, was a big leap. I didn’t have a safety net, just a clear mission to help people transform their health and build a brand that stood for more than just workouts — one that actually changed lives. That meant investing in a website, building a team, and pushing through months of trial and error until it gained traction.

At the same time, I also took on the responsibility of managing my family’s ranching business. I invested heavily, financially and emotionally, to revive it during a challenging period. That experience humbled me — it taught me how to lead under pressure and how to stay committed even when the payoff isn’t immediate.

To me, risk is the price of meaningful work. It sharpens your focus, tests your character, and if you let it, it builds something much bigger than what you started with.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career as a fitness coach started with a deep desire to help people not just look better, but feel better — to reclaim their energy, confidence, and sense of control over their lives. What sets me apart is the long-term relationships I build with my clients. Most have been working with me for over three years, which speaks to the trust and consistency we’ve developed together. I don’t just sell workouts or meal plans — I build real, lasting partnerships focused on sustainable lifestyle change.

I’m most proud of building FitNationMG.com from the ground up — not just as a training brand, but as a full wellness experience. We now serve over 50 clients combined across personal training, weight loss coaching, group classes, and wellness events in premium residential communities. It’s exciting to see the brand grow into something bigger than myself.

My journey hasn’t been easy. One of the biggest challenges I faced growing up was a speech impediment, which affected my confidence and communication. Overcoming that taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of clear communication — skills that have been essential to my career as a coach and entrepreneur. It built my character and fueled my passion for helping others overcome their own hurdles.

Financial risks, personal sacrifices, and career setbacks have all been part of the process. I’ve taken on family responsibilities and rebuilt my business multiple times, but each challenge strengthened my commitment and shaped how I serve my clients.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that consistency beats intensity — in fitness, business, and life. I also learned that mindset is your ceiling, which is why I focus as much on mental coaching as on physical training.

What I want the world to know is that FitNationMG is not about quick fixes. It’s about real transformation. We exist to help people unlock the strongest, healthiest version of themselves — and we’re just getting started.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend visited Miami for a week, I’d start with the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens — beautiful historic views and peaceful gardens by Biscayne Bay. Then, we’d head to Little Havana for authentic culture, great Cuban coffee, and lively street vibes.

For nightlife and skyline views, Brickell is the spot — it’s trendy, energetic, and worth it despite being a bit pricey. And of course, Lincoln Road in South Beach, where you can soak in the iconic art deco vibe and enjoy great shops and restaurants.

Miami is a city full of contrasts and culture, and these spots really showcase its heart and energy.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this shout-out to every client who trusted me with their health journey before FitNationMG even had a name. Your belief in me helped shape the business into what it is today.

A special thank-you to my wife and kids — their patience, love, and constant support have been my foundation through every challenge and transition.

I also want to give credit to Pastor Erwin McManus. His book Mind Shift truly changed the way I think — it helped me challenge limiting beliefs and step into a stronger, more purpose-driven mindset. His podcast continues to be a source of clarity and wisdom, especially during seasons where leadership and resilience are tested.

None of us build something meaningful alone, and I’m beyond grateful for the people and voices that have helped shape mine.
