We had the good fortune of connecting with Miguel Trinidad and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Miguel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought behind starting my own business was to control the narrative. I wanted to write my story and control my destiny. I wanted to be the face for my community and show people like me that we can be business owners and we can make an impact.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from other is my culinary focus. I cook with Cannabis for the sole purpose of de stigmatizing it through food. It hasn’t and still isn’t easy because in NYC the regulations are still being written. however 99thfl continues to strive as we push the envelope and change the conversation when it comes to the medicine in this plant. We have learned that the cannabis community is bigger than is believed and people are open to learning more about it. We want to show the world how this plant can be used properly and steer our community away from pharmaceuticals.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
NYC is the culinary capital of the world along with it also being an amazing place for entertainment and sights. A week long trip would consist of a culinary journey through different neighborhoods and cultural hotspots. Chinatown, little Italy, koreatown, Washington heights (Dominican food)

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My success and work ethic comes from my parents. My mother pushed me to work hard for anything i desired in life. My dad instilled in me the desire to explore and never give up. Thank you both.
