Hi Mikala, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
When it comes to risk taking, I tend to look at it as either way I am going to gain something out of whatever it is I’m doing. Whether it’s success or a lesson, there are so many lessons to learn in order to continue growing and I really focus heavily on continuous growth. Without risk, you will never reach your true potential because there is something holding you back from success.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is based around my personal brand, Mikala Bars. That includes social media, modeling, fitness training and influencing, traveling for content trips and collaborations with other creators, etc. The goal in this is not to be the best out of everyone, but to be the best for yourself- which is what I truly love about my career. I grew up as a dancer, I played sports but the main thing I did was dance competitions where essentially you are always competing against yourself. Once dancing slowed down in my life, I picked up weightlifting in the gym- another form of self competition. I repeated this process and it eventually became a mindset. This applies in my business because I don’t compare my content, modeling, or strategies to others but I compare against my past self and see infinite potential with no ceiling so I continue to improve. Business is only going up from here because I am my own boss and that is the standard I set. I don’t allow it to be an “if”, it’s always “when”. Between my work ethic and God’s plan, I am getting to where I am supposed to be.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
To be fully transparent, I only have one person to recognize for this and that is God. I have not much to do with my family, I keep friends close but still distant, and I truly focus on God’s plan and where His path takes me. I have gone through trauma and things no one should go through, that made me learn lessons to get me to where I am now- and the one who helped me with it all has always been God. Ever since I built my relationship with him and distanced myself from the world, success has poured into my lap. I stopped forcing things to happen and started following His guide. I make mistakes and learn lessons that have made me so much wiser and stronger than before and got me to be where I am. My only shoutout is for God.
