We had the good fortune of connecting with Mikhael Ricks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mikhael, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe the most important thing behind anyone’s success is putting in the time to perfect their craft. When I first started coaching I wasn’t the best. I had to learn from people that have been there before and learn how to individualize my methods and programs from other coaches to get maximum results for my clients. The success in my brand is to motivate and educate and be honest with my clients. When it comes to people’s health you have to be honest and do what you lobe. When you do what you love it’s not really working, it’s a passion.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The way I compose my programs are to the individuals needs. The general population has some issues with their back, hips, knees and ankles and I’ve devised some programs and used training equipment that you don’t see in a lot of gyms to help my clients become successful. The challenges when training come with trying to “teach an old dog new tricks” and have them understand how the body works and do what’s more efficient for them to move and feel better. I get excited by my clients feeling better and being able to begin to live their life again. I’ve also learned that your personality and your attention to detail when working with someone means a lot to them. I would want the world to know that it takes time to become a master at something and I’ve put in the work to help those that need to be helped. I would never force feed my beliefs in coaching on someone else but I will give them 110%.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Back in the day it would have been South Beach but now that I’m older I would say Too Golf, Las Olas, Midtown or the Design District. A lot of my friends played sports so we would definitely go to a Miami Heat or Miami Dolphins game to soak in the atmosphere. As for the night life a social bar and nice dinner would do the trick. There are so many different restraints around the Miami Area we would have to possibly try 2 a night.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My team at Midtown Athletic Club has allowed me to be my own individual while learning how to be a constant professional.
