We had the good fortune of connecting with Milo Estevez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Milo, how do you think about risk?
I think about risk as an opportunity to overcome my fears and doubts towards something. If you’re not willing to jump and take the risk, then someone else will gladly do it for you. That someone else, will take your chance to learn and experience something new. I see risk as the perfect opportunity to grow both personally and professionally.

Taking risks has giving me the opportunity to meet the love of my life, for example. I took the risk of long distance dating, and while it was tough, we made it work and now she’s my fiancé. Professionally speaking, I took a risk when I was laid off from my job. I decided it was time to do what I truly loved, telling stories and sharing my travel experiences through my camera lens. So I took the risk, and decided to put myself “out there” with my YouTube videos leaving behind my shyness and self-consciousness. Taking a risk is what led me to where I am today, and I feel proud of the things (small or big) I have accomplished.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is telling stories through film. I love sharing my travel experiences and what it is like to live in a city like Miami. I do this through the films/videos in my YouTube channel “Milo Estevez.” I think what sets me apart from other “travel vloggers” is the fact that I try go beyond a cinematic montage. As I just mentioned, I love to tell stories, so I work hard to inform my audience about the places I go to. I’m most proud of the experiences I’ve had as a content creator. Experiences like traveling to Mexico or Aruba, and learning more about those countries. I’m proud of having a video with over 19K views, a channel that has generated over 900K impressions and gained over 75K views. It’s a small, but mighty YouTube channel. Easy? No way! It has taken a lot of time and effort. From learning about photography and film to actually shooting the videos and editing them. It has taken a lot of time and money as well, since I’ve had to invest in equipment, software and tutorials to be a better filmmaker every day. I’ve learn that consistency is the key to success. It doesn’t matter how good you are, you have to be consistent to get to where you want to be. And I still have a long way to go, but I’m not giving up.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area and I wanted to show them the best time ever, then I would take them to places like the Knaus Berry Farm in Homestead. It’s no secret that they have awesome milkshakes and the best cinnamon rolls in town (when they’re in season). I would obviously take them shopping around the city…Dolphin, Dadeland and Lincoln Road Mall to name a few. I’d take them to one of my favorite Cuban restaurants, Sandwich de Miami. Here, we’d grab some croquetas and Cuban sandwiches and spend the day at the Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, aka “El Farito Beach.” I’d give them a tour of Brickell while riding bikes around the area. Take awesome pictures in Wynwood, the Design District, Miami Beach and Calle 8.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This is a tough one! I’ve had the luck of having many people around that have supported me through my journey. To start off, my mom, Ana; and my fiancé, Daniela. They are my true number 1 fans. My mom shares all my videos with everyone she meets, no matter how good or bad they are. She’s always encouraging people to watch my videos, to follow me and support me in any way, shape or form. I have to be honest, it’s a bit embarrassing when it happens in front of me, but I love it. On the other hand, Daniela pushes me every single day to keep creating content, and to keep making videos. She has invested in me and my project time and money. She helps me with content ideas and even to shoot all of my videos. I have nicknamed her “DaniCam” since she’s also my photographer. And of course, my dad and brothers show their love when they watch my art and give me constructive criticism as well.
