We had the good fortune of connecting with Miluhska and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Miluhska, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
Hi guys!
The most important lessons I have learned in this business are – work hard and don’t expect anything, be patient, don’t take anything personally.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Music has always been part of my DNA. My mom always said I could sing before I could talk. Before I got into music, I was into fashion – still am – but back when I graduated high school I truly believed I wanted to be a fashion designer, now… not so much. I went to school for it, I was a stylist, I worked retail, etc. It just never made my heartbeat. To make a VERY long story short, I went through a really tough time and music ~literally~ saved me from going down the wrong path. After quickly realizing this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life I didn’t look back once. The way I gravitated towards music was so natural and just felt so right. It’s funny because my dreams of having a singing career and playing festivals felt like nothing more than just a dream for the longest time. I was extremely insecure about my voice and about what others would think, it seemed impossible and honestly, the real reason why I didn’t take the first step sooner is that I wasn’t sure where/how to start. After months of planning on how to do it, I just started doing it. As simple as that. I believe a lot of us get stuck planning/thinking instead of doing. I picked up my friend’s mixing board, enrolled myself in a sound audio engineering institute, surrounded myself by individuals that wanted the same thing as I did + wanted to see me win, changed my priorities, and my life turned around entirely, for the better. I’ve learned and continue to learn so much about myself every day. I’ve learned that patience is key, choose where you put your energy wisely, and stay consistent. What I want to accomplish in my career more than anything is to bring my people up with me. To be able to give back. To be able to do what I love and encourage, inspire, motivate, and help anyone that I can to do the same. Because if I was in front of 18-year-old me, she wouldn’t believe where she is now.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Miami is one of the hottest cities right now. For a good dance: Club Space or Floyd. For food Osaka, Hidden, Boia De or La Natural. A must for drinks could be Dantes Hi Fi or Tropezon. Wynwood and Design District have become top destinations to shop or just walk with friends but if you’re looking for something more artistic The Bass Museum and the Vang Gogh Experience could be cool.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely couldn’t have done this without my team and the people I’ve chosen to surround myself with. Jaime Bolin & Vero Lam have been the backbone of my brand since my first single, “Biscayne Lady”. My Roujeee girls, Alyssa Lamas and Nat Zunjic – we started this journey together, and working with them is the best thing that ever happened to me. Last but not least, my mom and dad. I’ve been blessed with such supportive and giving parents, I am who I am because of them and I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to repay them for everything they have and continue to do for me.
