We had the good fortune of connecting with Miranda Leigh Stull and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Miranda Leigh, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I knew without a doubt that i was meant to create my studio & wellness spa for reasons that were greater than my own desire to be a business owner. i felt called last year to “maximize on what i had” with my former hair studio but knowing the calling was going to be greater than just the service to do hair but to create a space where people could experience both inner and outer transformations within themselves. I felt called to create a safe space where people could feel safe and seen leading with love and to let people know as long as they are in our care, they are seen, valued and so loved. We are a collective of artists who truly desire to leave people better than we found them and don’t for one second take it for granted that we “get” to do this journey along side of our guests. I desire to create and diversify spaces like this all over to be the one spear heading the way business can be done in the beauty industry and allowing for so many to find healing and wellbeing within our space.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an artist, this calling was imbedded in me at such a young age to redefine the way people see the beauty industry. I remember in 8th grade English class, when i should of been paying attendtion to the lesson, i remember grabbing a brown washable marker and free form lowligthing my hair which would now be considered a balayage effect to the hair. Yes of course my teacher called me out for not paying attention but also came up to me and said she loved what i did to the hair lol Even before i knew how creative this calling could be, i always knew i was a creative at heart so college was never an option for me for the sake of knowing whether i succeeded or not, by having people doubt that this would be successful or not, they became my fuel. This course was able to be completed in 9 months and whether i would succeed or fail came purely from my mindset and the opportunities i would allow into my life & i knew worse comes to worse, i would have a degree under my belt while my former classmates were still in their first year of a super expensive investment with college. Again the doubters were always there throughout what name i was creating for myself within this industry but taking a chance on myself was the best gift i could of ever of done for my journey. I decided to move from the safety net of our hometown where i was a big fish in a small pond and exposed myself to an actual bigger city with a very humbling beginning to the beginning of my professional career as what became as my self employment journey! When i made the made the decision to move, i knew safety wasn’t an option so i took a 30k pay cut to take a risk on myself with the move as an assistant in a big salon in Pittsburgh at the time was ranked one of the top salons to go to then after 11 months of being an assistant with very little room to grow and knowing nothing more about business other than i really knew how to do hair, i got my LLC and began what is now the start of my professional career!

In my first year of beginning my career as a solopreneur, i grew from nothing to 6 figures in a year by working my ass off to create what is now the reality of what i get the opportunity to steward every single day! During covid and managing my household of a family of 4 with my husband, son and a new born, i brought my studio home working at home and being a SAHM and learning to find the balance in motherhood & business which was not an easy journey but i feel it all worked out for my good to be able to create a space to show others how they can literally have it all as well vs compromising themselves. After having our third baby and getting in the swing of what was now my reality, i felt lead this past November to expand what was created from my one chair single hair studio to an almost 4K SQ ft studio space that has now became REV BEAUTY COLLECTIVE. This space is something i never wanted of managing a brick and mortar but it also showed me i don’t have to “manage” but i can create a space where we can all come together for the common goal of creating a “welcome home environment” for our guests that they can leave all their cares at the door & fully submerge into full body wellness that we get the opportunity to serve & care for our guests to the best of our capacity but to also show my artists who choose to partner with REV that we are not about competiton but we area a “collective” who chooses to work together with the strengths of one another to leave everyone better than we found them. This is where the name REV BEAUTY COLLECTIVE evolved from was taking our past of what we thought the industry was & allowing it to become completely renewed and revived from the inside out to showcase a healthy space where beauty will be done with excellence as a collective partnering with other businesses that we all may thrive to the max!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My collective! This goes solely to the ones who are my pillars when it comes to the way REV BEAUTY COLLECTIVE came alive. This space is not about competition but a collective of like minded people who desire for change & without my faith, husband, my littles & the rest of my collective, i wouldn’t have the opportunity to be able to do what i am doing & lead this thing to be everything it can be!
