We had the good fortune of connecting with Miranda Uribazo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Miranda, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Honest to god I never thought I wanted to own my own business. I thought I would be completely content working for someone else cause god forbid something went wrong I wouldn’t have to worry about it cause it wasn’t my business. Wasn’t my name on it. But honestly the ore I got into wedding videography and branding work the more I realized that while I was safe from the risk of failure, I was also limited on my creativity. When it comes to a film of any kind I have always been able to just play it out in my head. See different way I want it to unfold or tell the story that needs to be told. So when you work under someone else’s name you are limited to their style, vision, work ethic, and over all desires of the entire experience. Which in some cases I just wasn’t happy with. I want to show my hospitality and genuine creativity in every story I capture whether it is the most important day of their life or a business they poured their blood, sweat, and tears into. I want to capture it all in the best ways it unfolds. I want to capture the moments they wished they could pause. Thus, Miranda Kay Media was born.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It’s hard to say what sets me apart from others. Everyone is unique in their own way so it would be cliche of me to say im any different. The best I could say that sets me apart is my eye for the story. It’s taken years to develop and I have a long ways to go before it is perfect but I have a knack for seeing the story my clients want to portray and I show that in every film. We aren’t a large company with multiple editors and associate shooters, no. It’s just me and I love every minute of it. From the creative call where you tell me a little more about you and your vision to the end when you show me your little ones reactions to your videos! I love every second and wish to capture as much as I can where ever I can.
The last thing I think any entrepreneur would say is that it was easy and if they do they’re either lying or still at the beginning. This is the hardest from being easy. A little personal information I am currently working a second job along with building my business. It’s a lot of late nights and working from 8am to 2am but it is so worth it. Every time someone really connects with my work and sees the value in it or feels the story being told I get this warm fuzzy feeling that makes me so proud to do what I do. For almost a decade people would as me “what do you do for a living/career?” And I would either say undecided, or tell them I was a server reluctantly because it wasn’t something I personally wanted to be. But now I say without a shadow of a doubt I am a wedding/event and branding videographer!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Realistically speaking I’ve lived in South Florida basically my whole life but know nothing about it. I rarely go to Miami other than of work and really don’t go out much. For my best friend in particular Would take her to Glitch bar cause she loves video games and rooftop bars cause who doesn’t love those! Maybe down to Fort Lauderdale beach to roller blade even though I am the WORST at it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I could go down the list of all the supportive roles in my life, but the main ones would be Daniel Suarez of New Rez Media who took me under his wing and answered every silly question I could come up with. Chris Frochaux from Bells and Whistles who allowed me to shadow my first wedding and fall in love with a passion I didnt even know I had. My parents who have always been fairly supportive of my life choices, and my boyfriend Deybis Gayoso who continues to push me to be the best person I can be and helps me in more ways than he even realizes. I am so thankful to them all for helping me realize my true passion as a wedding and branding videographer.
