We had the good fortune of connecting with Miriana Martinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Miriana, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I created healthy & happy so people could look at life with a balanced view, eating healthy and organic its is as important as reading, and learning everyday to reach to your best self, so i opened this place promoting culture as well , that’s the concept as all the menu items are named by different worldwide teachers (philosophers, musicians, painters, poets, scientifics and writers) .

I think its important to keep promoting this lifestyle as people are so emerged in instant pleasures that they forget to cultivate the mind as well as the body.
Healthy & Happy promotes balance, culture, healthy lifestyle & love.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

I’ve always worked in the hospitality business and I absolutely love it. It’s a career that you really do have to enjoy as owning a restaurant can be very demanding and never fails to keep you on your toes. For me, serving has become my way of giving back to my community and to the world. Healthy & Happy Cafe is a place that offers people a space to eat nutritious food while at the same time, nurture their minds through our specially crafted library. When I created Healthy & Happy Cafe, it was with all of my heart.

It’s been a wild journey, I moved from Mexico City about 7 years ago to Miami where I initially just intended to visit, but ended up staying when I saw this opportunity. I didn’t know anyone and it was definitely a bit scary, but it was also such an exciting experience that really happened so unexpectedly. I knew Miami was the place. At the moment it was crazy to think, but I’m here now and it’s been a very fulfilling journey.

There’s been some challenges but I wouldn’t have it any other way. For every customer that comes in and enjoys the food or concept, my heart is filled and I’m reminded again of why it is I do what I do.

It’s been almost 7 years and every day is still as exciting as the first one. This has really become my happy place, and everyone I’ve worked with has taught me so much. It really is a never ending new experience with every person that walks into the door.

My intention was always something communal and local, nothing so big that across time might lose its meaning. That’s how I intend to keep Healthy & Happy, rooted in its mission so that it never loses its essence.

I really think that believing in yourself is the key. You have to trust your intuition. There will be moments of doubt and fear but that doesn’t matter, the point its to do it anyways. Life is about constant learning; it’s important to have a goal, but never forget to enjoy the journey and take the fruit of its many lessons. There’s always something we can learn from every person and every experience we encounter.

December 2023 was another very exciting and pivotal moment of my career. I launched a new extension to my business, CLASSY & SASSY PLATE . Classy offers eco-friendly, high-end, and handmade rental tableware. We’ve just recently launched and there’s so many ideas in the making for all the Miami events! Keep Posted!
I am very excited and loving this too I just love setting the table of all type of events, something I always loved since I was kid.
Healthy & Happy is now the showroom!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Day 1 I would take them to dojo de agua for a nice coffee, juice and eggs. Then a walk in brickell key. Then I would take them to wynwood to visit some galleries, Wynwood walls and stopped for some drinks at doya

At night I would take them to Doma Italian restaurant in wynwood (one of the bests for me)

Day 2 I would take them to the beach in Miami Beach to see the Art Deco arquitecture, the area etc.
then I would take them to mandolin in the design district.

Day 3 I would take them to healthy 7 happy of course then to vizcaya museum then a walk in coconut grove , ice cream in Bianco. , then I would have dinner at Sappore di mare

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My brothers, sister and my dad & mom who they believed in me without a question, without their love and support I wouldn’t be here.I would shout out to my soul sister and best friend Rebeka Kelly Smyth, who since I dreamt of this in Mexico City she has supported me in ANY possible way She recently moved and I just think I wouldn’t be able to trust in myself so much without her.
