We had the good fortune of connecting with Mirna Franco and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mirna, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Success in any field, whether professional or personal, depends more on daily habits, starting with exercising, eating healthy, and getting enough sleep. I call this the foundation of success because if your mind and body are healthy, a solid foundation makes running a career easier!
That said, the habits that have helped me the most over the years are:

1: Set clear goals…
It’s very important why you’re going to work and putting all your focus into reaching your goal. If you don’t know what you want, you won’t know how to achieve it!
You have to know where you’re going and what you want to achieve!

2: Discipline and Consistency
It’s very important because having discipline means doing what you have to do even if you don’t want to. You know you’re doing it to reach your goal. Many people only get excited about the process. My advice is not to do it because the excitement doesn’t last long; it can run out the next day. But discipline is being consistent, even if you don’t want to. Consistency surpasses talent if it’s maintained over time.

3: Time Management:
SAY “NO” TO WHAT DOESN’T ADD VALUE!
It was very difficult for me to manage my time since I’m a fairly sociable person and I like to go out and share with everyone, but this can be a double-edged sword. Because if these meetings aren’t part of your growth plan, it’s better to say no!
Eliminate everything from your life that creates distractions, for example, social media. Remove people who don’t add value to your life, or who don’t trust your process, or people who complain and cry all the time… you don’t need to hear anything from them.

4: Be proactive and resilient.
Learn from mistakes without getting bogged down in them. We are evolving human beings, so if we make a mistake, there’s no point in sitting and crying. Just get up and find a solution or a way forward! We have no choice but to move forward!

5: Be grateful and have a positive mindset.
This is my favorite part 😍
Always thank God for everything, even when things sometimes seem like they’re not going well. I look up to heaven and give thanks because gratitude opens the doors to what we long for.
God is good.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Throughout my career as a hair artist, fashion stylist and model,
I am excited to know that I can help many people through my hairdressing chair,

strengthening self-love, female empowerment and enhancing the beauty and confidence of all women,

I think that fixing your hair is not vanity, it is simply part of self-love, care and being a woman … because a style of cut and color are part of your personality, your image, your style and being unique … image is everything,
Mirna Franco stands out for her combination of experience with more than 20 years behind the chair, personalized approach, advanced techniques and creates a complete image transformation experience!

Today with a book full of clients in New York City I can say that getting here has not been an easy road, I have knocked on many doors that have been slammed in my face, but that has always given me more strength to move forward, I am proud to know that I DO NOT ACCEPT A “NO” FOR AN ANSWER IN MY LIFE.. I ALWAYS GO OUT LOOKING FOR A “YES”

I confess that I have had more “NO” in my life, but the times that they have said YES to me, I immediately take advantage of the opportunities! I have had many failures both in business and on a personal level but I always remember my objective, my goal, I fill myself with courage and I start again! I want everyone to know that you can achieve what you dream of, do not let anything or anyone, not even your family, tell you that you can not ..

I remember when I was 15 years old I was in school and in the meetings with my schoolmates I told them: “when I grow up I am going to be a model and hair artist and I will serve all the models and celebrities of the world” they laughed in my face saying I do not think you will even make it out of here! It’s been 20 years, they are still in the same place and I am happy fulfilling my dreams because people talk about their own limitations and that has nothing to do with my dreams or my capabilities,

I have had the opportunity to work with celebrities from Colombia, the United States and Europe … one of my dreams was to be part of the New York Fashion Week team and there I am, continue Paris and London as a hair artist and as a model I have had the opportunity to be in different magazines, catwalks, music videos among others! WHO SAID NO? YES YOU CAN!

Please remember to surround yourself with people with solid values, people who have clear dreams and goals and put everything and almost everything of your strength into the main objective and nothing and almost nothing into the secondary objective, because we come to this world to be happy, not to please anyone… be true to yourself.

With love

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
New York is the city that never sleeps; it’s magical!
I have very good friends, so when they visit me,
We start by taking a walk through Times Square
We go to restaurants for dinner
We visit Rockefeller Center
Walk down 5th Avenue
Visit Central Park
Art galleries
Metropolitan Museum of Art
Museum of Natural History
Go up to One World Observatory
Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge is truly magical;
you can see all the immensity there
Breakfast in Dumbo Park
For us,
the rooftop bars with the best views of Manhattan are a must-see

To be honest, coming to New York for just one week isn’t enough time to see this magical city; you’ll fall in love here! 😍

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I started my career at 17.
I always knew I wanted to be one of the best hair stylists in the world, so my dream from then on wasn’t small I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but giving up has never existed in my life..

. My parents supported me from day one. Back then, we lived in Barranquilla, Colombia, and they supported me to go to the capital (Bogotá, Colombia) to do 5 specializations. That’s where it all started. Now I’m in New York.

So, all my gratitude to my family, my son, and my husband, who have truly worked with me and supported me behind the scenes always… I love you guy’s!

I also want to thank myself for getting up even when I don’t want to, give up, or can’t—without words that don’t exist in my world!
But the greatest gratitude is to my God who is in heaven; he has put everything in my path!
