We had the good fortune of connecting with Morgan Parker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Morgan, how do you define success?
Success, to me, doesn’t mean perfection, but rather to accomplish any aspect of what you have set out to do. I often set very high expectations for myself, and have determined that I have reached success not when the project is complete, but when I have learned something and I’m proud of what I have achieved.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I was a kid, my mom gave me a disposable camera, and I fell in love (even though I had very little patience and waiting for photos to develop was awfully difficult). Over the years, for birthday and Christmas presents, my camera collection grew. My dad set up an LLC for me, all of the money I earned from various jobs went right back into purchasing new equipment, and I grew my portfolio. After graduating college, I realized I could pursue photography full-time, and that is where I am today!

The most difficult part of the entire process is believing in myself and in my art. Even now, I have occasional doubts, but as I continue to grow and learn, I am becoming more confident in myself and my work.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Miami is a fun city, filled with a variety of options for food, drinks, music, and attractions. For locations, I always recommend the PAMM, Wynwood, and Crandon Beach. Some of my favorite places to dine are Ichimi, Kush, and Moshi Moshi, and for drinks, I love Tipsy Flamingo, Lost Boy, and Gramps.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m fortunate to have an amazing support group, especially my parents, Quincy, & Ricardo.
