We had the good fortune of connecting with Mouriser James and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mouriser, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Journaling and reviewing all my plans played a huge role in my success. Listening to motivational speeches, always wanting to start a business and being observant on problems around me that I can solve.

What should our readers know about your business?
The name of my business is Island Delectables based in Grenada W.I.

Island Delectables is sole proprietary and started in August 2020. The owner of the business is Mouriser James, Grenadian born who is original from Black Bay, St. John, but currently resides in Woodlands, Cafe St. George.

Island Delectables manufacture and retail a wide range of spicy hot sauces made from hot peppers (Maruga or Scotch Bonnet), spices, and other ingredients.

These hot sauces comes in a variety of flavors such as: the Original which gives the old school vibes and takes your food to another level. Mango Rush, bursting taste of fresh Grenadian mangoes with a spicy kick and Roasted Veggie, a mild, melodious mouth watering hot sauce.

As I continue to grow, I launched my premium Green Seasoning blend the week of our independence in February 2022.

I am most proud that every products makes my customers happy when consumed, both local and internationally. The love and feedback is so overwhelming.

I got to this point because I always wanted to own and run a professional business, not just as a “side hustle”. At the age of 13, I sold sandwiches to a near by construction site during my school vacation break so I think I always had a business mindset that was gifted by God. Not business journey is easy, but I try to stay focused, creative and innovative as possible.

My biggest lesson is having confidence in all you do, write down your ideas and go back to them until they become a reality. Plan and put your best into every product you create before sharing with the world. Consistency has also helped me along the way.

I want the world to know that all products by Island Delectables is made with love from Grenada with a touch of spice. I am leaving my mark in this world by touching the palates of many!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I will definitely take them to my favourite restaurant Umbrellas on Grand Anse beach. An Island Tour to visit the most beautiful waterfall in my home town parish St. John, Concord Waterfall, BBC beach one of my favourites. Street Food Wednesday and True Blue Bay/ Dodgy Dock and a lovely walk through the town of St. George for shopping.

I will also let them spending an hour with me at the farmers market where I do a pop up sale every Saturday. They will have access to fresh fruits and vegetables.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I must thank God for getting me this far and dedicate this shout out to all my Grenadian customers and Grenadians living in the diaspora.

My business and dreams would not have been a reality without your love, feedback and consistent support.

Huge shout out to my family and friends who believed in me and played their role on this journey. There are so many persons I can thank, but the list will be too long. If we had business conversations, sharing of ideas and motivational boost to keep going, thank you!

Amidst the challenge of getting packaging materials on the island, I won’t change this since I am surrounded by the most kindhearted and loving population.
