We had the good fortune of connecting with Moustafa Mazhar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Moustafa, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
Talent is great, but all it does is give you a head start.

Anything worth having is hard to get. Any game worth winning is naturally going to attract several different players.

Some will have a great deal of talent. Some will have developed their skill. Some will be there by the concentrated power of their will.

If you have to bet on who’s going to win, always bet on the competitor who has the greatest will power, work ethic, and desire to be a winner.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is colorful and abstract. an expression of the soul. it reflect my interests, are my form of self-reflection, healing, and communication. I believe Art is what makes the world a beautiful place, what captures the essence of human existence, what preserves our culture, history, and traditions. I’m not sure what sets me apart from others. With everything online now, I’m aware of how other makers influence me and how impossible it seems to create something original.
That being said, I’m very proud of how hard I work and how much thought I put into the things I do. I look forward to giving myself more time to think so that it can influence my practice.
I’ve recently lacked balance in that way and think a lot about how much pressure there is to create something new now, everyday. Work worth making and sharing can take time.
Getting to where I’m currently professionally took a lot of consistent effort and trust the creative process. I shifted many times, and often tried to make peace with the idea that I might never accomplish what I wanted but being authentic, true to who am I are as an artist helped me with my path.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
