We had the good fortune of connecting with Mr. Magic City and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mr. Magic City, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I decided to start magic city I wanted to introduce a product that my community was not familiar with.I was inspired by New Orleans culture and wanted to bring that back home. As a graduate from an HBCU, I always knew that I wanted to be my own boss and provide for my family and friends. Launching Magic City Snowball food truck is only the beginning.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Magic City Snowball is a New Orleans style snowball. We specialize in serving over 75 extraordinary flavors served over the finest ice and stuffed with ice cream and capped with our own Magic City speciality toppings. Our flavors are enhanced by Granny Olivia and Auntie Tracy..We are not a slushie, snow cone nor Italian ice. Our flavors on our specialty menu consists of the peoples favorite strawberry shortcake “The Magic City Way “ and. some of those flavors are also named after areas throughout Miami dade county (Liberty City,Overtown,lil Havana,Kendall) and the list goes on. I feel that’s one way to bring our community closer together. I can tell you that I am mostly excited about the growth and development of Magic City in the next upcoming months. I want the world to know that our brand has no age limit from children to adults. We are ready to serve you.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When family and friends come to my city. I like to take them early to south beach to lay out in the sun and enjoy the beach water.I highly recommend having breakfast at Jackson’s soul food in old historic Overtown. As far as the night life go I would go Wynwood to look at art and have drinks and. It’s plenty of food to choose from so that want let us down. Miami my city is a city that don’t sleeps so no matter the time you can also swing by magic City Snowball and get you a snowball just to cool you off in this Miami heat. Some other things to do is check out one of our many sports team to watch from the heat to the Marlins. To wrap up Miami you can’t leave here without going to Club LIV ,what other day to end the week off with on a Sunday night and it’s no telling what celebs you may see in there and if you don’t want to stop there you can go to 24 hour club (club eleven), and party until you drop. My city offers endless choices rather it’s from foods, the beach the lovely people or just the perfect weather it’s hard not to love it

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My grandfather Samuel Watkins always pushed me to strive for better and work hard for the finer things in life. Rather. It was showing me by example’ throughout the years . Everyday, I live by this Jay Z quote “you can try to change but that is just the top layer man, you was who you was when you got here” meaning I am who I am no matter where I am. Jay Z built a billion dollar enterprise from nothing and he came from the same environment that I come from. Chad “Ocho Cinco” Johnson also is someone else that I’m inspired by (he did what he love doing the way he wanted to do it and while still being accessible to his community) I always wanted to know what that will feel like , to be on tv one day and doing things in the community the next day ,The fear of failing and not being able to serve my purpose is really what motivates me.
