We had the good fortune of connecting with My Cousin Vinny and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi My Cousin Vinny, why did you pursue a creative career?
When I first started producing music and DJing, around 12 years old, something clicked in my brain and I became fascinated. Hearing melodies and sounds in my head, trying to make them real, and putting them out into the world keeps me inspired and fuels the pursuit of my creative journey.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what sets me apart from others is my life experience this far, which has influenced my sound uniquely to my own journey. Everyone has their own story to tell based on what they uniquely went through, and no one person’s experience is the same. I’m excited to share my story, my pain, my joy, my memories, and everything that pours into my art and my music. It’s my way of sharing what can’t be put into words. I want the world to know that you never know what the person next to you is going through, so don’t be an asshole. Be kind to everyone, and spread love because the world we live in needs it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Considering that I just returned home to California from Miami, I definitely have some suggestions. I would go hang out, eat, and get coffee at Puroast Coffee House in the Brickell area. I would also go to ATV Records and see my friends Paperwater DJ, and also go wherever else Paperwater plays in Miami. I would also go check out Wynwood and visit 1-800-Lucky, which is another dope venue/vibe. Basically I would go to Brickell, Wynwood, Downtown Miami, or go to the Center for Subtropical Affairs for dope vibes.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This is dedicated to my friends, family and loved ones that have mentored, supported, and provided positive encouragement throughout time.
