We had the good fortune of connecting with Myriam Sandler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Myriam, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Building a global community of parents and educators has given me a unique perspective on the similarities we all share. What’s been special about my experience with social media (which might differ from others) is that the more honest I am with my community, the more connected I feel and the more successful the platforms become. The same habits that make all businesses succeed translate into digital success (ie. time commitment, networking, content generation, etc.), but the most significant factors in my success always come down to basic human experiences. I created MOTHERCOULD because connecting with my daughter through sensory play empowered me (hence the name motherCOULD). Sharing my play activities with others was an outlet to continue my growth as a mother and help others in the process. I think people responded to that honesty and its created a very clear path for all business related decision making going forward.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a digital creator of sensory play and kids activities, I take pride in utilizing what we have at home and repurposing recycled items as much as possible. Sometimes sharing the simplest idea can change a parent’s day or outlook on play. MOTHERCOULD is about empowerment and having the confidence to try new things, let go of our parenting fears and embracing the experience. Not every activity or piece of content will work for everyone, but I’m lucky to have built a career out of something I loved doing on my own. Being authentic has helped me avoid many of the challenges digital creator’s face. At the end of the day, I want to connect with other parents and educators. This platform has given me that opportunity and I am grateful for the support of our community throughout the process.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Having grown up in Miami, I always find myself admiring the outsider’s perspective on the city. Beyond the popular tourism destinations, I find myself most attracted to the natural beauty of our city and so I would definitely start by taking my friend to our beaches. As an animal lover, the Miami Zoo and Seaquarium are must stops. For food and nightlife, I enjoy exploring Brickell and the Design District/Wynwood areas.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
MOTHERCOULD would not exist if it wasn’t for the support of my family. As a first time mother navigating through parenting, I threw myself fully into the experience, sometimes losing parts of myself in the process. When I began exploring sensory play and seeing the benefits in my daughter’s development, I felt completely empowered. It inspired me to keep creating new play recipes and finding different ways to connect with my daughter. My husband encouraged me to build out a social media presence and share these experiences with others. It was exactly the nudge I needed to create MOTHERCOULD and begin connecting with other parents. My husband continues to be my number one supporter and I’m incredibly grateful for the family we’ve built together and the parents we’ve become.
