Meet Myrtha aka Mimi Padron-Alvarado | Entrepreneur-Party Box & Candle Curator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Myrtha aka Mimi Padron-Alvarado and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Myrtha aka Mimi, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The idea for my party box and candle business came from a love for creating memorable, meaningful experiences. I’ve always enjoyed planning celebrations and curating special details that make people feel seen and celebrated. Over time, I realized there was a need for convenient, beautifully curated party solutions—especially for people who may not have the time or eye for design but still want something special.
As for candles, they’ve become a new personal passion of mine. I see them as more than just decor—they create mood, ambiance, and emotional connection. I wanted to combine that love for atmosphere with the joy of celebrations, and that’s how the idea of custom candles and party boxes came to life.
Ultimately, I wanted to build a brand that brings people joy and ease—whether it’s through a ready-to-go party kit or a candle that turns a moment into a memory.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career has been a journey of creativity, passion, and a lot of faith. I started my party box and candle business because I’ve always believed in the power of small moments—the joy of a perfectly planned celebration, the comfort of a beautifully scented candle, and the magic that happens when thoughtful details come together. I wanted to create something that helps people celebrate life with ease and intention. I also work for a Miami based Law Firm as an Accounts Payable employee and take care of my elderly sick parents. In a nutshell, I love what i do.
What sets me apart is the heart behind everything I do. I don’t just sell products—I craft experiences. Each box, each candle is curated with care, with a focus on quality, personalization, and making people feel special. I believe that even the smallest gathering deserves a big touch of joy.
Getting to where I am today professionally hasn’t been easy. There were moments of doubt, financial pressure, and the challenge of balancing life, work, and a dream. But I continue to push through by staying rooted in my “why”—the reason I started. I lean on my support system, learn to embrace the uncomfortable parts of growth, and remind myself that every step forward, even the small ones, count.
I’m most proud of taking the leap—of turning an idea into something real. Every order I fulfill is a reminder that I didn’t give up on myself.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to stay true to your vision but flexible in your approach. Not everything will go as planned, and that’s okay. Keep learning, keep adjusting, and don’t be afraid to ask for help or take breaks when needed.
What I want the world to know is this: my brand was built with love, intention, and purpose. It’s more than candles and party boxes—it’s about celebrating people, creating memories, and bringing light to everyday life. And this is just the beginning.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Miami, I’d make sure they experienced the city the way locals really do—full of culture, flavor, sunshine, and vibes. Here’s how I’d plan the ultimate week:
Visit sites such as Lincoln Road, Coconut Grove, South Beach, Wynwood or Brickell—great areas with a mix of art, nightlife, and good eats.
Drinks at places such as Grails Miami, Blue Martini, The Clevelander, Area 31 or Sugar rooftop bar in Brickell—beautiful skyline views and chill atmosphere.
Explore Local spots like Little Havana—sip Cuban coffee, roll yourself a cigar, walk down Calle Ocho, and watch the locals play dominoes. Great Nostalgic places to eat in the area and catch a vibe like Hoy Como Ayer, Ball & Chain or Cafe La Trova.
Definitely check out the beaches or simply enjoy a day pass at any Beach Hotel pool side. Fontainebleau is always a vibe or take a drive to Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm or even Key West for the day. The choices are endless.
Yummy places to eat like Divieto, Rusty Pelican, Sala’o and Graziano’s.
Check out Historic landmarks like Venetian Pools, Vizcaya & The Deering Estates.
Miami is full of energy, diversity, and creativity. You’ve got everything—food from around the world, art on every corner, incredible sunsets, and a rhythm that makes you feel alive. What makes it even better are the people—laid-back, passionate, stylish, and full of stories.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to take a moment to give a huge thank you to my amazing husband, Kenny, my close friends (Adri, Mo, Nina, Gaby & Tania) and incredible family members (Maylen, Jorgie & Mikey). From late-night brainstorming sessions to helping me pack boxes, set up Market events, test candles, sell candles, promote my product and cheer me on when I needed it most—you’ve all been my backbone in launching this business.
Your love, support, and belief in my vision gave me the courage to take this leap. I truly couldn’t have done it without you. Every milestone, every order, every bit of growth—it’s a reflection of the strength and support you’ve poured into me.
Thank you for being in my corner from day one. This is just the beginning.
