Meet Nagib Aboud | Mortgage Loan Officer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nagib Aboud and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nagib, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
My confidence. Despite the hurdles in my business and all the obstacles that I had to overcome, I never doubted myself, not even 1%. At my worst, I was 100% confident of where I was going and what the end result will be knowing that I would work the hardest and give it my all.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a mortgage loan officer. Every year, I help a large number of families achieve their dream of owning a home but to be honest, if every person that I helped made $50K per month and had $100K in their account, I would’ve quit a long time ago. There is no better feeling and fulfillment than going from the first meeting where someone may not trust me right away, maybe another bank denied them, their credit is not the best and they are scraping every dollar to try to make their dream come true, earning their trust, going to their closing to see the house key in their hand and their smile to back it up. After all of the struggles in my life, my job becomes less about money and more about making sure that I come through for whoever I am helping. This means giving it my all when its needed, cancelling plans or staying up late to work on loans to ensure that they close in time and that I pull through for what that client came to me for. There is no better feeling and I can almost walk around untouchable after helping people with such a pure heart.
When I was three, my father went to jail leaving my mom, my sister and I. In my teenage years, we moved practically year being that apartments would give a good deal the first year and want to raise the rent the next so we were always chasing the next move in special. This meant that i changed schools a lot until dropped out in the 10th grade. I started washing cars which lead to selling cars until I sold a car to a woman that gave me the offer to work at a credit union doing home loans. She promised that I would make more money and not have to work weekends. After working at a dealership for 9-10 hours a day with no salary or confirmation that I would even sell that day or week, I quickly became a top producer at the credit union,
After 11 years at the credit union, I hit a plateau and started to look at my salary more as a shackle that I needed to break free from to reach new heights. It takes confidence and belief in yourself to quit a great high paying job with benefits to go to your own business where you do not know where the next deal is coming from and no salary. I ran through $70K the first 7 months of this process while i was learning and working to obtain my license. I hit rock bottom never doubting myself and even cashed out half of my 401K.
I have an assistant now, hired a coach for my business and it has all been getting better daily. For me, the fact that I haven’t quit and that I am taking more applications daily is a win in my books all day. I have more free time now and less stress, Two exceptional benefits that I did not have before.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have been in this position before. I would get my boat ready and head to the Haulover sand bar or near by island. Plenty of sun, water, music and fun. On the way home, we would stop at Duffys on the water, park the boat up, order food and jump in their pool to cool off followed by a nice night time ride back to the dock looking at the beautiful homes along the way playing our favorite jams : )
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The only person that I can shout out is my mother. That is the person that I’ve walked through any fire with. Relationships and money will come and go but when everyone was gone and no father, My mother was the last one standing throwing the rope to pull me out of whatever situation that i was in.
