We had the good fortune of connecting with Nailim Milian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nailim, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I worked in accounting for over 15 years. When the pandemic hit I realized how much my mental health was suffering from being unfulfilled in my current job. I took a step back and made a list of everything I needed to feel satisfaction in my work life. Creativity, growth, time flexibility and inclusivity. Where just a couple of items on my list. I also wrote down all of my skills. I quickly realized that I needed to create my own path and so Crafts and Drafts Miami was created.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I strive to create a relaxing and fun environment for my guest. I understand that life can be challenging at times and we all need a break from adulthood. I host adult coloring sessions, Terrarium building workshops and even Harry Potter themed Murder mystery games. I encourage adults to feel like kids again and provide them an outlet to do so.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Miami has a great nightlife but locals don’t really benefit from it. We all get to an age where clubs and expensive bars are no longer a weekly thing. So I would take my guest to my favorite spots. Like the farmers market in Pinecrest Garden, Isaac Farms in homestead or Havana Harry’s in Coral Gables for delicious Cuban food.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My better half Lorena. You can often find her at my events helping me set up or dressed as a character in our hilarious Instagram reels. She has her own full time job and always finds a way to support me no matter how tired she is. She is the epitome of a life partner and support team.
