Meet NaKeitha Melton | Brand Designer & Subscription Box Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with NaKeitha Melton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi NaKeitha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The idea of starting Biz Bestie Box came to me one day at work. At first it was never supposed to be a subscription box. I just wanted to create a brand that supported women in business and helped me find my tribe!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Biz Bestie Box is my newest business venture. I, like many, struggled with finding other business women who didn’t mind pouring into me and understood the struggles of running a business. I joined so many groups and memberships looking for like-minded women to just feed off of and to pour into. I found out it’s really not that simple. To overcome that I decided to create this brand and build my tribe from the ground up. I’m a true introvert so I knew being the face of my brand would be a challenge for me. Being a graphic designer it’s not necessarily required to be in the forefront. I can design an entire brand for you and never actually see or speak a word to you. Biz Bestie Box is totally different. It is continuously pushing me out of my comfort zone and I am super proud of myself for that. I have learned that to get new results you have to try new approaches. That people appreciate your story; you just have to tell it. I would love for the world to know that Biz Bestie Box is a place for friendship, support and inspiration. That I know what it’s like to feel like you’re alone on this entrepreneurial journey but know that you aren’t!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh wow. I’m an absolute home body but I enjoy trying new restaurants. So if you’re coming to hang out with me be prepared for a foodie trip!! I like to eat at the places that feel like your just visiting family. Restaurants like Shuckin and Jivin or places like the Dunes that has a beautiful ocean view. I’m a photographer as well so I tend to take my camera out with me sometimes. Being a creative painting has always been a secret pleasure of mine so we would definitely attend a painting with a twist class. Who wouldn’t enjoy a glass of your favorite wine and a fun time.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Anybody who has ever poured into me and my creativity. They all play a role in getting me where I am today and where I’ll be in the years to come.
