We had the good fortune of connecting with Nakita Gutierrez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nakita, what do you attribute your success to?
My goals as an esthetician are very different from most in the sense that, for the majority of my clients it’s about giving them results so that they don’t need to keep coming back to me. I know this is frowned upon by many from a business perspective but listen, in reality, facials are a luxury, not a necessity. Some people have gone their entire lives without a facial and come to see me when they’re 60 years old and for most, not all, look pretty good. Then some people were born with bad skin because it’s in their genes or has poor hygiene and can’t afford facials every month but require some guidance and TLC. When you step into my room, whether your concerns are hyperpigmentation, acne, or wrinkles, you’ll walk away with few treatments and incredible results all with a little consistency, sacrifice, and dedication. Behind my success is one word…HONESTY. I am completely transparent with every client. They don’t call me the skin fairy for anything.

What should our readers know about your business?
Starting a business takes courage, sacrifice, and determination. One feeling I do remember when I first started was fear. I started The Skin Bar with just a hope and a dream, and not to mention, zero clients!!! I dove into something that I was completely unsure of. I had no idea if this vision of mine would be a success or a failure. There was one thing I was completely certain about though – I had a passion and no matter what, I was going to put everything I had into it because failure was not an option. My treatment room has become my sanctuary. My walls tell stories of joy, tears, laughter, and sadness, with no two clients being the same. Every day as I step into my office I see it as an opportunity to change someone’s life for the better, whether it is through my work or by building a new relationship or connection.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, being a Miami native means there is never a dull moment. An ideal week would consist of several brunch’s, and a day on the yacht. A few pit stops at the Standard Hotel, Strawberry Moon & Fountainbleau for a tan (obviously taking good care of our beautiful skin aka a hat and lots of SPF) some drinks, and massages. Last but not least, delicious dinner at Zuma, Prime 112, or Sardelli.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my friends and family. However, I must admit I have an amazing team of 2 special ladies. Maria & Melissa, I am forever grateful to both of you.
