We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalia Patino and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalia, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
In terms of creative projects, I firmly believe in finishing anything I start. Even if it doesn’t make it outside the confines of my laptop’s video archives. I keep going, because I know, in one way or another, I am learning and improving. I don’t believe in giving up. If something doesn’t seem to be working, I would know to adjust my course of action, or simply step back to gain a different perspective. There is a solution to everything, and if you truly want something, you will find it, and you will keep going.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am 25 years old and I have worked in the South Florida theatre, television, and film community as an actress, singer, and content creator for over 10 years. Some highlights from past projects include: performing in the South Florida Premiere of SlowBurn Theatre Company’s “Heathers: the Musical” at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, appearing on Nickelodeon’s ” I am Frankie” and Amazon Prime’s “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” and winning the Campus Movie Fest Jury Award for my original short film ” Violets Are Blue.” When the coronavirus pandemic hit, I redirected some energy towards digital arts and started my own business, ” Nati P” (@natipcreates) where I sell merchandise and accessories with my original designs. I earned my BA degree in Communication Arts and Film Studies, and my MS degree in Mass Communications from Florida International University. With the skills I acquired during my college years, I freelance helping businesses make and market content with social media management services. At my core, I am a creative storyteller, passionate about connecting with audiences to uplift, inspire, and entertain! This line of work is unpredictable, highly competitive, and, at times, inconsistent. But none of that matters when I lead with the intention of love, and know that part of my purpose is to share my light through art. On a personal level, I have struggled with anxiety for as long as I can remember, which is part of the reason my parents put me in theatre in the first place. The biggest challenges have been my own limiting thoughts and beliefs. In the end, I know I am my own biggest competition. One of the best lessons I have learned is that mindset is everything. The power of positivity is real, the law of attraction exists, and when things are meant to be, the stars will align. I have faced rejection and failure countless times, but they always redirect me to new and better ways of being. I don’t get too caught up in the ” how” or ” when” things will happen, but rather focus on taking the steps necessary to prepare myself for the next opportunity, which is always inevitable when I stay active. Also, I don’t stop myself from creating my own opportunities! When inspiration strikes, I run with it. My hope is that sharing my passions and uninhibited creativity can inspire others to have the courage to share their light, too.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Okay, bestie, so you want to have the best time ever in Miami? Global pandemic aside, you can’t leave the city without getting your feet wet in the sands of cozy Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. You’ll want to check out the lighthouse, and, if it’s opened, walk the spiral staircase to the tippy top. If you’re into museums, Perez Art Museum Miami ( PAMM) is a combination of culture and aesthetic, located right by the ocean, adjacent to the beautiful Maurice A. Ferré Park. Oh, and its next door neighbor is the Frost Science Museum. While you’re in the downtown area, the best places to get drinks-I’m mostly an H20 gal myself-and go dancing include: BlackBird Ordinary, Better Days, and Mama Tried. If you’re more into beer, a hidden gem in Kendall is Strange Beast Brewpub and Pizzeria. For the full food and drink experience, Tap 42 is always a fun time, with multiple locations including Coral Gables, Cityplace Doral (!!), and Midtown. Their chicken and waffles rock. You’ve probably heard of Wynwood, and its totally worth exploring and discovering your favorite spots on a whim. For a more upscale experience, walk the streets of Miami Design District, and we can totally make reservations for the Dior rooftop cafe! Finally, one of my favorite areas is Upper Buena Vista. It has a more bohemian ambience, featuring artisanal crafts and goods, boutiques, tasty eats, and an area for various special events including live music and yoga.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family has encouraged me to do what I love my entire life. I am eternally grateful for their constant love and support.
