We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalie Jas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I kind of fell into this. I was a stay at home mom for three years and I was ready to work again. I started applying for jobs and I was getting them, but then I quickly realized it was going to be very difficult for me to have a 9 to 5 and still be able to take care of my family. So I started looking into digital marketing, but I didn’t feel a passion for it. And then I saw someone online talking about how brands can send you a product and you can create a video for them as a consumer and get paid for the video. I was already a creative person who loved to make my own videos for social media, so I thought that this would be so much fun since I do have a business marketing degree from the University of Miami. It was a way for me to combine my business mind with my creative mind, and I quickly found a passion for it. Plus, I was really good at it. That’s when I discovered that there’s a whole industry of user generated content creators that I can be a part of. So that’s when I applied for my LLC.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So my craft consists of intense market research for each brand I partner with. I creatively script, plan my visuals, record, edit and deliver an entertaining and educational video ad that converts into sales for the brands product.
What sets me apart is that I actually enjoy the whole process from market research to scripting, filming and editing. I am a professional at every level of the process. A lot of creators enjoy one part over the other, but I truly enjoy every single part. This doesn’t feel like work to me. This is fun and I literally go above and beyond for every video. I don’t care how long it takes me. If it takes me three days to make 1 – 30 second video, I’m going to do that because I truly want the best outcome for each brand that I work with. I want them to have success and more sales.
I’ve always been a very creative person whether it’s through dance or singing or digital design. I’ve been involved in the arts since I was three years old. Also attending the University of Miami for business marketing has allowed me to dive into the professional business world so I’d say that combined with my creativity allows me to be the perfect person for the marketing space and for UGC.
I would say maintaining a work life balance has proven to be difficult for me because I really enjoy this so much. I’ve sacrificed a lot like my social life. I also used to be an avid Netflix watcher and since I’ve started I don’t watch TV. When I have downtime, I’m scripting or editing my videos. I honestly don’t mind giving up all those things because I found, my passion and something that brings in income for my family while letting me have a creative outlet.
I’d also say comparison is the thief of joy. Being on social media constantly researching can sometimes lead me to thoughts of doubt, or that I’m not good enough, or that creator landed that brand deal but they don’t wanna work with me. Therefore, I’m working on realizing that I’m unique because I’m a mom and a millennial, who can target the same type of person for my brand, so I’m just trying not to compare myself to others and focusing on how I need to stay in my lane has been a challenge, but I’m working on that every day.
I want the world to know, especially moms, that you don’t have to sacrifice your role as a mom, as a wife for your career. You can do both. You can find something that you love and do that in the cracks of time and life. If you are a creative mom (or dad) who likes to make videos, you can totally get into this, and become a user generated content creator. The market for it isn’t saturated. Brands need creators all the time. I don’t think that this is gonna go anywhere, So if you are a creative person, reach out and I can hold your hand and help you get started.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If you were in the Miami/homestead area and you have a family, I highly recommend checking out these places here all the time and they’re perfect for you and your kids.
1. The berry farm is a fun destination that has obstacle courses, hayrides, Live music, Food drinks, and seasonal events.
2. Zoo Miami Is always fun to go with the family. They can see the animals while the parents can enjoy cold beverage and their kids enjoy the splash pad.
3. Schnebly winery has a beautiful Koi pond and waterfall. You can have a wine tour and tasting, enjoy the restaurant or check out the brewery. They have line dancing classes and live music on the weekends.
4. Heritage market in Homestead is a charming family owned restaurant and playground. We’ve enjoyed watching eggs hatch in their little market. They have fresh food and yummy shakes. We love that place.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank the Billo app for getting me started with this and helping me connect with brands from all over the world. Through the app, I was able to build my portfolio by making video ads for brands.

I’d also like to thank Salha Aziz or @sociallyaziz for her coaching and mentorship. She has truly launched me into the next level as a user generated content creator, and business owner. Her network and course is worth every penny so if you are wanting to get into this space, I highly recommend checking out her course and community.

And of course I want to thank my husband who has always supported me and is so proud of me.
