Hi Natalie “Nani”, what role has risk played in your life or career?
RISK: An opportunity to be daring & lean into the sharp edges of uncertainty! Ultimately, a willingness to risk translates into a determination to grow & evolve at all costs. In life & in business, I pivot & adapt whenever it’s necessary- even if it’s uncomfortable. Sometimes that looks like walking away from something that no longer serves me & sometimes it’s deciding to launch a new brand (@flourandfleurmiami) in the middle of a pandemic. No Risk, No Return, Right?!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My work has a distinct vibe. The past couple of years have allowed me to hone in on a signature aesthetic that sets me apart visually. I focus on efficiency and exceeding expectations when it comes to my work in the legal field and I match that same energy in the kitchen! The essence of my brand allows you to experience beauty and savor art.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Are you really in Miami if you don’t go to Vicky Bakery for a shot of Colada and a pastelito?! Every adventure in Miami starts and ends here. Here are some of my favorite spots in Miami – Tamiami: FINKA! Westchester: SpecialTea Wynwood: Jaguar Sun South Beach: The Broken Shaker & Planta (for my plant based babes!) And if you’re in the mood for a road trip – head to Homestead. “Robert is Here” never disappoints! But if you come to Miami, I hope you end on the water at some point. Whether its to catch a sunrise or to soak up some moonlight – our beaches are where its at!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Miami Creatives have mastered balancing the hustle culture with such a solid sense of support of, and collaboration with, their fellow creatives. I feel really fortunate to be able to create alongside some of Miami’s finest. @StyleMeElvi + @ReyZamoraPhotography have been instrumental in the successful launch of @FlourandFleurMiami – mad love to them for being able to SEE my vision and helping me bring it to life! The day-to-day grind would not be possible without Ashley Montejo – a talented fellow cake artist (@LucasandRoseBakehouse) that happens to also be my amazing sister in law. Plus, I think its safe to say all those years at art school are finally paying off – thanks, Mom! So a huge shout out to Lourdes Montejo – my love of art started with you and I am so glad you always encouraged me to pursue artistic expression.
