We had the good fortune of connecting with Nataly Schloser and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nataly, what makes you happy? Why?
One of the greatest pleasures in life is that of remembering little moments of joy. These memories can be liberated through many channels, but for me, what does it is art, decoration, and landscaping. In these practices, I find bliss – both in the process, and in the memories they unleash. The blood rushing through my body whenever a new challenge is presented, serves as a reassurance of how much I love what I do, and how happy it makes me. Not to mention seeing people’s faces and reactions; I feel humbled and grateful. I’ve always liked the idea of being on an endless metamorphosis cycle. Ever since this passion was born, it has been a long and nutritious process of transformation, development, adaptability, and reinvention. All exciting stages that make me feel alive.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It’s hard to define what sets me apart from others. It’s hard because to do so, would imply that I would have a defined process and identified constraints in others. But the truth is, my process – if it can be called that –, is ever evolving. Every project has a unique human behind it, and I do my best to adapt to their needs with radical empathy, but with firm uniqueness. My job is that of a guide and executioner. The humans behind the projects that I take on make me feel proud. Proud of the results that we’re able to achieve together, and proud of the care that they feel for the deliverable – to the point that my pieces are considered essentials and treasures, and are taken with them when migrating to other countries. I’m a Lawyer by trade, but an Artist at heart. My craft and practice are the result of an autodidact trial-and-error dynamic. I’ve never been afraid to avoid the ‘bad’ or to try new things where I’m terrible at, because I know that the ‘good’ comes right after, and the iteration process makes me happy. Recently I created an initiative called ‘Design Guru’. Design Guru encompasses all my passions and philosophies. From advisory, to execution. From interior decoration, to landscaping. From photography, to mosaics. It’s a new platform to jump off to exciting endeavors to come.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For this fictional exercise, I picked one of my best friends that has a lot of the same interests I do. No itinerary. Free flow form. I’d keep the week organic, sporadic, and dynamic – like myself. City: Miami. These are some of the experiences I would love to show my BF: – Relaxing time in my house and atelier to catch up. Coffee in the garden, of course. – Extreme gallery crawl in the Design District and Wynwood. – Lunch at the Mandolin Aegean Bistro. – Tour at the Pérez Art Museum, and ICA (Institute of Contemporary Art). – Drinks at Broken Shaker. – Sunset beach walk.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The reason clichés are considered clichés is because a lot of people use them, and they tend to be true. Without further ado, here’s my cliché: My family has always given me their unconditional support. For that, I’m grateful. Everything I am, I owe to them. The work I do is a tribute to my family. Thank you.
