We had the good fortune of connecting with Natasha Laggan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Natasha, what is the most important factor behind your success?
When I started this journey it was as a hobby. Then it turned into my passion. I loved the feedback from my supporters and it gave me the drive to push content.
Having a very constructive husband and friends around me ensured that I was set up for success. My followers are the reason I do what I do. They have shown me love and the ultimate support.
I stay out of trouble and what ever is being said about me in any negative way I don’t respond to it. Negativity will never go away so I embrace it and use it as fuel to make me better and stronger. The only competition I am in is one with myself.
To be successful you need the drive , dedication, commitment and a love for what you do and I have it in Spades.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I started in Oct 2015 I had no idea thos would turn into a career. I was shy and didn’t want to show my face. That’s why I only showed my hands. If you listen to my voice in my early videos I would sound so scared to talk.
Confidence came from interacting with people who knew I was behind the camera and even up to today I am still shy.
The highlight of this journey was when I was featured in Forbes in 2022 for crossing 1 million followers during covid. People flocked to my page for recipes to make dishes that they.could not get due to the lock down. Multiple recipes were posted daily as people requested.
Which leads me to say that my followers always request recipes and I try my very best to create my version for them hence the reason I have over 2000 recipes.
Although there are other similar channel on YT each of us cooks differently so viewers get to see different versions. What sets me apart is that I get to the point. Straight to cooking. Your not going to see me prep. I try to keep my videos under 5 mins because I want to make it easy for my audience to rewind, fast forward etc.
I have learnt so much from doing what I do. I have learnt not to respond to haters. Not to let people try to influence me in attacking others . Staying to myself and focusing on building my brand and my name and having a good character is what I strive to protect.
I started this just before my son was born. He was born a preemie and I balanced taking care of him while still building my channel and brand.
I am a highly driven person and it shows in everything I do.
Once you are passionate about what you want and you find that niche go all out for it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
