We had the good fortune of connecting with Natasha Siahaya and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Natasha, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I think that the most important habits to have when starting any business is having some type of routine where you take the time to connect with your audience/customers . Taking time out for yourself and or family when needed is also important, because running a business can be stressful and tedious and you don’t want to burnout. Lastly, try to always be inspired and have a positive attitude no matter what!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So basically I started Bossy Obsession during the beginning stages of the pandemic, with the idea of trying to keep myself busy and occupied while being cooped up in the house. Ive always had a mild passion for fashion, but it was not always something I’d show off to people except close friends and family. The idea that created Bossy Obsession came to life, when a friend of mine mentioned to me that I had a really good eye for putting unique pieces together. Whether it be an entire outfit, a piece of jewlery, like some drop earrings, or even and oversized bag with matching shoes. My brain started to create all types of ideas, until I decide to come up with an online store catering to anyone who loved unique fashion pieces. It was exciting to see the rise of my business come to life, but it wasn’t as easy. There were times I wanted to give up and quit, because I didn’t have the support from some friends or even family. Other times it was not generating any sales for a period of time. But with the people who did support me, I received an outpour of love and positivity to keep going. Through it all, I’ve learned to stay open and positive, to keep in mind that there will be days where I wouldn’t make any sales or have the support I needed. To always look on the bright side of things, knowing that there is a purpose for you and your business.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If anyone were to visit me, our itinerary would go something like this; if they’re not from a city were they have access to a beach that would be our first stop. South Beach for the tourist scenery and Palm Beach County for its clear waters. Our next stop would to get food. I mean I’m a foodie myself and I love trying new and different restaurants. Plus Miami is the best place to be when trying exotic and new foods from all over the world, like Jamaican food, Bahamian food, Cuban food, Peruvian food and the list goes on. Also with Miami having so many food options, we probably could try a different restaurant every day. Next, I’d probably take them on a small road trip, where we can have fun and be a little adventurous. Somewhere like Ginne Springs to go camping or to even float down its clear rivers. After that, if you’re feeling a little more bold, we’d ride down to Epperson Lagoon, which is Floridas largest man made lagoon, with clear waters, fun slides, water sports and even an inflatable course. However, with lots of tropical scenery, a multitude of different foods to eat and places to visit, this is just some of the things we could do if anyone visited Florida.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, like to shout out is my family. I know everyone says that, but my family supports me a little different. So because I was diagnosed as a kid with Lupus, there are many times I felt as though my days running a business wasn’t possible, because either I was too tired, in chronic pain or had bad flare ups. My family was always there to help me pick up the slack whenever I needed. Lastly, I’d like to thank my website designer Emmanuella, @sisteremmdesigns, because without her I wouldn’t have my glamorous website..lol. Emma came along when I was on my 3rd web designer. She helped me get back my inspiration and gave positivity to me and my businesswomen when I needed it the most and when every other web designer fell through and basically scammed me out of hundreds of dollars.
