We had the good fortune of connecting with Natella Khaleel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natella, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m originally from France, I grew up in a small town near the Belgium border. I left when I was 21 and move to the US. After 10 years in New York City I recently moved to Miami (Coconut Grove).

I have a background in childcare, hospitality and marketing.
I have always been a very independent person and it gave me the strength to start different businesses from a kid’s clothing line to my latest venture The Kid Society, an art studio located in the heart of Coral Gables.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our business was created for kids. As a mom I realized there wasn’t a space for kids to be creative in our neighborhood that why we came up with the idea of opening an art studio. A fun place where kids can be kids and create freely.
I love the quote “Nothing good comes easy” I think it pretty much sums up what it is to start your own business. Hard work but also very rewarding. I’am thankful for the people I have been meeting along the way.

My business partner and I have been trying to focus on the process and not so much the product so kids can learn and explore in their own ways.
We also offer multiple art classes in Spanish, French and German which provide a unique and enriching experience that combines the benefits of language learning and artistic expression.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There is so much to do for fun in Miami. Some of my favorite restaurants are Pastis, a French restaurant located in Wynwood,
The Jaya at the Setai hotel for an entertaining dinner.
Mamo in Brickell (also a must try!)

Wynwood and South beach also offer a lot of fun places for drinks like The Broken Shaker, Scapegoat and Dirty Rabbit.
I also enjoy some time for myself and relax with a day at the spa, The Faena spa and The Standard are amazing they also give you access to the amenities.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout at my business partner Rose Moran. We moved to Miami at about the same time and clicked right away. We started The Miami Moms Society together. A community built for moms in the Miami area. After a successful year we decided to take it to the next level and opened up our own space just for kids called The Kid Society.
