We had the good fortune of connecting with Nathalia Andrade Wiggins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nathalia Andrade, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I come from a family of entrepreneurs and saw the flexibility that being a business owner gave my family members. They traveled extensively and had a work-life balance that I wanted for my own life. In 2020 tele-health had become an ethical option and I felt that it was a great opportunity for me to dive in to private practice.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Therapy Street, LLC was founded to help alleviate the mental health crisis that escalated during the COVID-19 pandemic. I am most proud of making therapy more accessible by accepting insurance as well as continuing to offer individual and family therapy. I specialize in serving teens and young adults with a history of traumatic experiences. I am also proud to be a AAMFT Supervisor in training as well as EMDR trained. I love serving my clients and their families and take pride in doing this with care.

It took many years of confidence building and continuing education to be ready to build my business from scratch. I believe getting started was the hardest part for me. It was relatively easy to continue to treat patients as this has always been a passion of mine, but adjusting to being accountant and brand manager was a bit of a learning curve. Luckily, I have found that with the right support and specific systems in place, I have been able to successfully expand my private practice. I believe that allowing yourself the time to learn new skills and the insight to know when it’s time to delegate tasks is the key to growing your business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When I lived in Boston, the one thing I missed the most about Miami was the food. You cannot go wrong here, whether its at Bahamas Fish Market & Restaurant for a fresh fish filet fried to perfection or a La Carreta for a pan con bistec (steak sandwich) and pastelitos. I would start the day at Versailles for breakfast, head to South Pointe Park for the afternoon, and then back to Brickell for drinks with a view at Sugar. For those of you who don’t enjoy the sand, a good alternative is the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science with lunch around the corner at Verde. For the art lovers out there, Wynwood is a great place to spend the day exploring Wynwood walls for vibrant and colorful graffiti art perfect for photo ops. While you’re there you can check out Coyo Taco for authentic tacos. Diversity and cultural experiences are everywhere.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I could not have imagined starting my business without the support of my family and friends. My father and uncle both taught me the bookkeeping end of business early on in my childhood, giving me the skills and confidence needed to rely on myself. My husband has encouraged me through the all long nights of grad school, internship, and those early jobs that paid way too little. He continues to remind of my dreams daily and I could not have done any of this without his support. I would like to thank Fabiola Gutierrez, for showing me what true mentorship looks like, Claire Morgan for constantly helping me problem solve, and Stephanie Wietrzychowski deserves a shoutout for sending me my first client. The Private Practice Owners with Purpose organization also deserves a shoutout for serving as my sounding board for business questions. My children are my ultimate motivation.
