We had the good fortune of connecting with Nathanael Ilteus and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nathanael, what do you attribute your success to?
Keeping it fun. For me, it is a hobby and I make sure to have fun with recording, editing and posting content. To be honest, it doesn’t feel like a job so that’s why I love it. When I started this journey of content creation, it was solely because my friends would constantly ask me for recommendations of where to eat or drink in the South Florida area. Now that I have social media platforms, I just share my page and tell them to pick and choose themselves rather than sending a list.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m actually a nerd to be frank. I work in the financial industry as an Account Manager for large clients. It’s not my dream but I’m pretty good at it. About 9 years ago I took leap of faith and dropped out of college because I found a good job as a Technical Support agent for a financial company. I was in love with the ever changing environment and how much I learned day to day. I remained with the company for 8 years doing Technical support, then Client Management and then eventually Account Management within the same company. During that 8 year time period the pandemic happened and the company that I worked for sent everyone to work from home for safety reasons. I was working remotely for about a year and a half and then the company asked us to go back in the office. I wasn’t happy with that so I took a chance and found another job that was remote. Once remote, I started going to different restaurants for breakfast or during my lunch breaks. I would then post food or drinks on my personal Instagram and then question’s started about where and what I am eating/drinking. After a constant onslaught of questions, I then created a TikTok page and started posting food content. The rest is history.
Aside from the foodie content, I also travel pretty often since I work remote I will eventually be adding more content from different states so that way I can diversify my feed and reach the masses. I recently went to the DMV area and added some content on my page from that vacation period it was a fun time and I got loads of content.
I can’t say that being a content creator is hard or easy, however I can say that it is time consuming and sometimes stressful. The biggest challenge for me is taking time out of my day to edit and post content. I used to only do edits on TikTok but now I use different editing software. I enjoy learning so it doesn’t deter me. Along this journey I’ve learned that you can make your hobby into a career, and if you keep it fun then you’ll be happy. I want people to know that anything is possible with the right attitude and determination. Slow and steady wins the race like the tortoise and the hare story. We live in a world of technology so anything is possible if you work hard and believe in yourself. NIKE “Just Do It”
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For starters I would take them to get breakfast at First Watch as that is a favorite of mine. After breakfast we would drive to Miami and then check out a museum. Either the ICA or the Rubell Museum to walk off some calories. Next up is Wynwood where we would go to get a burger at Kush if they’re in a burger mood. If not in a burger mood then definitely some Tacos at the Wolf of Tacos. Wynwood is full of artwork and hidden gems. Then head to the Citadel which is a nice food hall in the Little Haiti area for some drinks. They have a beautiful rooftop and also and Bar Kaiju on the second floor. Late nights I would take them to either Glitch Bar for games and drinks or Xtreme Action Park for gokarting. I’m also an artist so I would take them to a Candle Making, Painting class or pouring medium class in Fort Lauderdale or Miami. Saturday morning would be reserved for a beach day at Peanut Island where I would bring a cooler full of snacks, drinks and snorkeling gear. I’m full of ideas so I would gauge the energy of the person accordingly.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost is my mother. She’s the one that taught me how to cook. My love for food comes from watching her in the kitchen as a child up into adulthood. I’m the foodie that I am now because of my mother.
Secondly, my group of friends that kept pushing me to post content. Without my friends hounding me, I would’ve never started to be quite honest.
I’d also like to recognize some fellow content creators as they have guided me on the path to success. I’m apart of a group now and when I have questions or concerns, I can reach out to them for help. People like Erica Eats America, Ron.Insights305, WanderingSola and Cheyennetheblogger are content creators that I look up to when it comes to content creation. I haven’t met anyone them physically but I have met them online and they have been very influential. I’ve studied their work and learned from them to make my content better for those that follow my journey.
