We had the good fortune of connecting with NAVI and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi NAVI, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Since I started singing and writing music, at 12 years old, I had always dreamed of having my own music studio, to create my own art and also help other artists achieve their dreams in a professional, but relaxed and inspiring environment.

In 2019 I opened Demisec Records alongside my husband, Andrei Grigore – it is a music – video – photo production studio aimed at creating genuine artistic products, without ever compromising on quality.

Basically I wanted to offer myself – and other artists as well – the chance and the freedom to work in the ideal technical conditions, with all the openness towards inspiration and always doing better.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Nothing ever worth having or doing comes easy 🙂 I have been writing and performing since I was 12, by 16 I had moved to Bucharest to pursue my dream and my career – I knew I wanted to create lasting songs, a deeper brand of pop, songs that stayed with people, “haunted” their most beautiful dreams, consoled them when needed, made up a good soundtrack for unforgettable moments.

I did not look like a star and I did not feel like a star when I first started out – but I knew that, in order to put my music out there, I had to become a more confident woman, aware of her power and beauty, to harness my charisma and my inner essence and put it all out on stage.

Also, being a woman in a male-dominated industry (Still!) hasn’t been easy – but I have made my way, uncompromisingly, and today I can proudly say I’ve never sang or written a song or done a show I don’t believe in.

What I’d love the world to know about me is… my art.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Bucharest is a beautiful, blooming town. From walking along the quays of Dâmbovița (our local river), to the already-famous Old City Center to the forests surrounding the city – it’s buzzing with life and art and hope. On weekends, some of the main streets close and wonderful singers, including my good friend Cezar Hăbeanu, come out with their guitars and wonderful music to busk. As for as eating & drinking go, I highly recommend Primus and The Pub Universității, as well as the GRAPES Wine Bar, which is actually close to my studio 😀

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this #shoutout to my mentor, the extraordinary musician Vali Rotari, who is unfortunately no longer with us… and to my inner circle of artists and friends (you know who you are!) who have helped me through my toughest times.
