We had the good fortune of connecting with Nayira Castellanos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nayira, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s your definition for success?
I define success as the ability to have full control of your time, while moving about life with great responsibility. To find the balance between materializing your dreams and caring for those you love, is to own your destiny. Success is creating a great life on your own terms, while leading and mentoring those around to do the same. The best way to make your legacy live on, is to share your knowledge. Those you teach today will speak of you, tomorrow.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am a Communications and Marketing specialist with 14 years of experience in the music industry. Over the course of the last 9 years as an independent publicist, I’ve had the opportunity to lead strategy for high profile recording artists, content creators, influencers, and corporate accounts. I founded one of the leading PR agencies servicing US Hispanic and other important music capitals across Latin America. My passion for generating visibility for my clients drives my ambition, but my passion for encouraging others to succeed alongside me is my mission; I take a lot pride in seeing my employees soar, and I think that sets me apart from others.
Getting to where I am today has been a work of passion. To me, it wasn’t “hard” to motivate myself to follow my dreams. There’s an internal battle between the ego and the heart happening constantly, and it’s important to guard your values and stay focused on what truly matters. I’ve made a lot of sacrifices along the way, but being an entrepreneur has also made it possible for me to control my destiny and enjoy full control of my time. Challenges include: Facing your own fears, taking risks, working late, waking early, dealing with rejection, among other things. You overcome these by: Believing in yourself, seeing the big picture, working towards your goals, not comparing your journey to others’, (I deleted AND) knowing your worth, and not taking things personally.
Biggest lesson I’ve learned and I apply this to all areas of my life; Never Assume Anything!
I am a Cuban-American entrepreneur with broad knowledge across different fields, and I’ve founded: Beats Communications, Barbelle Activ, and Creativ Hous.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week-long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a big-time foodie. Miami is all about delicious food and pretty views. My favorite food spots in Miami have to be KYU, Pao and Zuma. For a super hidden gem, visit Lung Yai Thai; Thank me later-lol. For views, a bike ride along Key Biscayne Beach, people-watching and picnicking at South Pointe Park, or sightseeing the city from the ocean on a yacht. For drinks and a good time, Tea Room, Komodo and Swan are my go-tos. Another hidden gem, Lagniappe, for great wine and live music.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would have to recognize my mentor and forever friend, Carlos ‘Charly’ Perez for sharing his vast knowledge with me, and ultimately helping me structure my business model. Also, my close network of friends and family, who are always there to cheer me on, support me, and understand me. Last but definitely not least, I dedicate this shoutout to my son, Ryan, for he is the main reason behind everything I do. Dear Ryan; My aspirations are all born out of a necessity to provide you with a beautiful life and teach you that everything is possible with hard work and dedication.
