We had the good fortune of connecting with Nefertiti Gold and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nefertiti, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
I think the one thing that most outsiders don’t realize is that I spend close 5-6 hours creating content that may usually ends up being about 40 to 60 seconds in length. And it may seem unrealistic but it’s usually what’s needed for the final product to be clean, and concise all while having great audio. And a lot of times, I may need to actually produce a beat from scratch for that specific video or reimagine something that already exists.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The thing that makes me different from other R&B artist is my inclusion of electronic equipment during my sets. It’s really something that started during quarantine. I started learning how to produce and truly making my visions come to life exactly how I envisioned.

This wasn’t something that came easily. I would say that it took me about a year and a half just to learn the basics of engineering and producing. And then another year and a half learning how to integrate equipment while I’m on stage.

One important lesson that I learned throughout this journey is that everything takes time and it’s OK that it takes time. I also learned to give myself a bit of grace, while I’m still learning something new. And I’m glad I was patient with myself because I feel like I’m in a position where the final product truly represents all those hours that I spent learning.

One thing that I want the world to know about me is that I don’t think that artistry in itself is a skill I believe that work ethic is the true skill and we all have access to our own work ethics.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank my manager Thomas. I’ve spent many years grinding away through blind faith within my abilities and having just ONE extra person believe in you just as much as you believe in yourself is a feeling beyond words can express. And he’s also been an amazing friend to share this journey with.
