Meet Nicolas Pacaud | Co-Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicolas Pacaud and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicolas, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m originally from France. Moved to Florida in 2016 with our kids. Our kids were born in France and we used French books and French educational toys.
Upon moving to the US, we were disappointed that these types of toys were not readily available in the American market. We saw a need and decided to bring these toys to the US, starting with a small selection when we opened the website in 2020.
My wife Fanny, the co-founder is also a French teacher in a French American international school in Boca Raton FL.
I am also a experimented business owner and had a printing business in France for 8 years and owned a restaurant in Florida the first years.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have worked with my father since my young age, started at 14, worked the week ends when he needed and also during school breaks. At the end of my degrees, he asked me if I wanted to join his company. I was so pleased that I said yes with a big “Y”.
I worked with him for about ten years and started from the bottom, I was not favored and was equal to the other employees. I made my work, provided the best as I could and became general manager after a few years.
He sold the company and a new owner took it over. It did not work, so I left and bought a company. Then after few years we expanded and had almost 10 employees.
I decided a to sell it to move to the US and wanted to live the American dream. After a few months we found a restaurant located in a building and ran it for a couple of years.
In 2020 we opened My Bulle Toys online and started from scratch. Nobody knew us, either the suppliers and the customers ! Covid arrived one month later…we decided to build a strong network on social medias and it succeeded us. We now have 2000 followers and over 2000 customers. We send a bout 6000 orders per year.
Was not easy at all, we moved to a new country, it was a new language and new habits for us. We had to manage our business and personal life at the same time and it’s a challenge when you move to a new country since you have no network. But we faced the challenges and never gave up, that’s what we have learned in the past so we applied the same mindset that we had already used in our “previous life.
Our store name is My Bulle Toys, literally means My little world of toys, “bulle” means bubble in French. So I think the name is set for our business and is easy to remember for our customers.
We faced many issues but learned a lot these past years. We always tried to educate our selves, learning on internet, mentors and other resources like books and articles in newspapers. Other people made the move, we’re not the only ones so, why could’t we also succeed ?

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First of all I would recommend people when visiting Boca Raton to go to Mizner Park, it’s the Place to be in Boca, like Ocean Drive in Miami or the Champs Elysées in Paris ! There, you can have a drink, eat dinner, watch a movie, play bowling…or even shop luxury furnitures. The decoration is typical from Florida and you notice the Spanish influence. It’s clean and crowded with local families. Boca Raton has nice restaurants, beautiful Parks to bring the kids to and it’s also a very safe place to have kids. Of course, Boca Raton is surrounded of beaches, canals, lakes and wildlife is very interesting. You can meet alligators, rare colored birds, iguanas and marine life is cool to discover as well.
If you like boating, biking, running, walking your dog or practice a team sport, Boca offers many opportunities and the traffic to drive to different location of the city is pretty reasonable. Road accesses are good and it’s easy to and from Boca using highways.
You can discover the mansions near Mizner park and along the coast. The gated communities are many and they offer tons of services like restaurants, golf courses, sport facilities and much more !

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents and especially my dad who transferred me the value of work, integrity and honesty, he learned me how to run a business and how to deal with customers. My parents gave me also a good education. My parents in-law has always given us 100% of support in our business venture.
My grand father, who recently passed away, was an experimented entrepreneur and he always provided me good advice and was a my mentor.
