We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Forrest and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicole, what principle do you value most?
The value “Honesty” matters most to me . I choose Honesty because just like the saying goes “Honesty is the best policy ” its really that simple. I feel that you have to be honest with ALL of your clients , staff , business partners, and etc. How can you run a successful business without being honest ? I feel as if you cant, and if you are it will eventually catch up to you. I have built strong relationships based on honesty. You have to be able to keep it real with people , even if it”s not what they want to hear. For instance with this whole COVID-19 my shipments were severely delayed and I had a lot of my gems asking me “Where is my order”? Now of course I had to be honest and advise them on the delays because that”s simply the right thing to do . If I were dishonest and my gems found out later on , that would of hurt my business terribly. There could have been bad reviews on Google , social media platforms, and more. I just feel as if as long as you are always HONEST , you will always prosper. in the end. No matter the situation !
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is The Zurri Collection. We are a beauty brand that provides quality hair extensions, mink eyelashes , hot tools , and so much more. What sets us apart from other businesses from what the people tell us is our customer service. We strive to make sure every customer feels like family. Building rapport with your customers is KEY. You don”t want them to feel like just another number , or another purchase. I am most proud of the success my business has had and will continue to have in the near future. We came so far and accomplished a lot of things in less then 4 years .Some small businesses don’t last 6 months and here we are still standing 3 years strong !! God is truly amazing. Hard work , sleepless nights , and consistency got me to where I am today . It was NOT an easy road! There were obstacles along the way and I overcame them by simply having to tell myself “Nicole your’e in this for a reason. You decided to take this route for a reason continue to finish strong”. I knew I could not give up. I knew that I wanted to leave behind a legacy for my daughter. I knew that my ultimate goal was to be able to provide jobs for others so that they can in fact be the provider for their family. Now I still have ways to go which of course will come with more challenges, but I’m ready to face them simply because I know the end goal of this all ! Which is to be one of the TOP black owned beauty brands in the US !! I need everyone to know that it”s not an easy road starting a business . It takes a lot of determination , consistency , & FAITH . You can’t have 1 of the 3 . You must have ALL. Build your brand based on honesty . You want to make sure that people can trust you. Don’t rush the process either . Go with the flow . Face whatever challenges that come your way and keep on pushing . There is light at the end of the tunnel.. You will see it as long as you don’t give up!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love South Beach . The fact that everything is there, it’s like we wouldn’t have to go anywhere else. We can have drinks and dinner at The Sugar Factory . We can rent jet skis on the beach , then later on do a tour at the Museum of illusions Miami. Rent a yacht and simply enjoy the views!!!!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All praises goes to the most high GOD ! Without him and my faith my business would not be where it is today. I also would like to give a shoutout to my best friend Amanda Palma CEO of Embrace Ya Curlz. She is always there for me when i need to discuss the highs and lows of my business. She gives me great advice , and she is simply an amazing business bestie !
