We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Lawson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I decided to form my own LLC in 2009, I did it strictly out of my own need to provide for my daughter and my strong desire to be as present for her as possible. I was newly divorced and now a single mother of one. I had no desire to have daycare raise her, but I also knew I was going to have to work twice as hard to care for her. I wanted to continue working in way that was aligned with my life’s call. I didn’t have all the answers, I just knew that becoming a full time Mompreneur was right for me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My earliest memories include memorizing my favorite movie scores and singing the entire thing all over the house! Everywhere I went! I’ve always been a singer. I love to not only sing but to shine! It’s rewarding to make someone’s day just being my happy, bubbly, sing songy self. I’ve also believed that you should be able to make a living being who you are in this world! I’ve found that the things that I’m passionate about doing are actually a blessing and inspiration to others and THAT is valuable. So I started putting a price tag on that! It hasn’t been easy at all, but it’s been soooo worth it! I sing, act, speak, write. I’ve also substituted income via Uber and retail sales from home via network marketing. I still dabble in that, the income potential was to great for me to totally throw that away. Most recently I became a flight attendant and that’s been a tremendous dope opener for me and has provided even more resources for myself and my household. What I want the world to know about me is a am resilient, I am en encourager and i want people to look at me and say if SHE can do it so can I!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being a Jersey girl, I’d say the first thing I had to do was take my girls to get some “real pizza!” I love Corsi’s pizza 🍕 I order them often! I’d also take them down the shore! I live close to a few. One of my favorites is a little tiny beach in Keyport that David and I visit together. Every time we go we’re alone and have the whole tiny charming beach to ourselves. Wait I probably won’t take my girls there! lol! We can go to AC and shop and walk the boardwalk and catch a helicopter ride! Hmm… what else? I’m not sure, what’s NOT to do in Jersey? Maybe go to the Blue Note? Maybe they can come see me perform there…they’re still on my bucket list!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to shine light, love and appreciation on The Bethel Foundation of OKC, My personal mentor who is a therapist, Ruth Kyle and her amazing husband Tom, I loving call them OD and OM (other dad and other mom) of TX, my pretty committee sisters who have helped me tremendously over the years with my children and my incredible boyfriend, David Joubert. I’ve been truly blessed with the healthy, steadfast love that I prayed for and I am so grateful for his leadership, protection, provision and friendship!
