We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Leon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Work-life balance has evolved significantly for me, especially since becoming a mom. Before motherhood, I was able to dedicate long hours to my business without much interruption. While I worked hard, I didn’t fully appreciate the importance of boundaries and intentional rest. Becoming a mom completely shifted my perspective. Suddenly, time became more precious, and balance wasn’t just a goal it was a necessity.

Now, I think about balance as an ongoing process rather than something fixed or perfect. Some days lean more heavily toward work, while others are centered on family, and that’s okay. My son has taught me to be present in the moment and to prioritize what truly matters. I’ve learned to set clearer boundaries with my time and to focus on tasks that align with my goals, so I’m working smarter, not harder.

For me, balance is about being intentional, whether that’s scheduling quality time with my family, setting aside moments for myself, or making sure my clients get the best of me without overextending. Motherhood has shown me that balance isn’t about perfection but about being adaptable and making choices that honor both my personal and professional values. It’s a constant dance, but it’s one I feel privileged to navigate.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business, L Leon Virtual Assistance, is all about empowering entrepreneurs and small business owners by helping them streamline their operations, reclaim their time, and focus on what truly matters. What sets me apart is my personalized, hands-on approach. As a solopreneur, I take the time to understand each client’s unique needs and goals, creating tailored systems and strategies that provide clarity and efficiency. My mission goes beyond completing tasks—I strive to become a trusted partner in my clients’ success stories.

I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built through my business and the impact I’ve had on helping women, in particular, feel confident in their ability to grow their businesses while maintaining balance in their lives.

Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. As a mom and a solopreneur, balancing my business and personal life has been a journey filled with challenges. There were, and still are, moments of doubt, long nights, and hard lessons, but resilience and faith have always kept me going. I learned to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and to lean into my values as a guidepost for every decision I make.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the value of setting boundaries and trusting myself. It’s easy to try to do it all, but focusing on what matters most—both personally and professionally—has been a game changer.

What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that I’m here to help others thrive. Whether it’s through virtual assistant support, coaching, or creating a community like the Girlhood Collective, my work is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves a chance to succeed on their own terms. My business is a reflection of who I am—dedicated, driven, and always striving to empower those around me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d make sure to give them the full 954 experience with a mix of fun, food, and local gems. We’d definitely start with sushi at Keuh in Weston—it’s one of my favorite spots and the sushi is always fresh and flavorful. No trip to Broward would be complete without a visit to The Swap Shop in Sunrise. It’s such a unique experience—part flea market, part local cultural staple—and you just have to see it to believe it.

We’d spend some time walking around Downtown Fort Lauderdale (Las Olas) for the drinks and vibes. Dania Pointe is another favorite. It’s the perfect mix of dining, shopping, and hanging out.

Of course, I’d take them to the Yellow Green Farmers Market in Hollywood for great eats and cool finds. It’s such a lively spot with a little bit of everything. For shopping, Sawgrass Mills Mall in Sunrise is a must-visit.

For a fun night out, we’d definitely hit Amsterdam in Hallandale. It’s such a vibe—great music, a lively crowd, and the perfect place for some good perreo.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
If I could dedicate my shoutout to anyone, it would undoubtedly be my older sister, Veronica. She’s 12 years older than me and has always been a guiding light in my life. Veronica paved the way for me, and her support and wisdom have shaped me into the woman I am today. She’s not just a sister, she’s a lifeline.

I’ve learned so much from her, both from her successes and her mistakes. She’s shown me what resilience looks like, how to navigate life’s challenges, and the power of standing strong in your values. Her presence in my corner makes me better, stronger, and more confident. I truly wouldn’t be half the woman I am without her unwavering love and encouragement, and I’m endlessly grateful for her.
